Our ā€œRaise Your Voice Threadsā€ are hosted every other Thursday at 12PM ET to offer creators more avenues to uncover exceptional stories on Vocal. As we are continuously searching for fresh creators and inspiring stories, this thread provides an opportunity to exchange and discuss the stories that have moved and motivated us on Vocal.

How to join the šŸ“¢ Raise Your Voice Thread:

  • Introduce yourself in the comment section of this story and tell us what you create on Vocal.
  • Shoutout a Vocal creator you recommend reading. Include the URL of a writer or story that inspired you and why.
  • If you like a story another person has recommended, send that story's creator a like, leave a comment, and/or subscribe to them.

Also, make sure you join our Vocal Community Chat monthly on Tuesday at 12PM ET to discuss insights and platform updates.

We'll start the thread:

Babs Iverson's selection of 15 haiku from 45 written for the Blue Haiku Challenge, BABS BLUE HAIKU, is a gorgeous compilation. Each haiku is presented with an anecdote about what makes it special. We love Babs' honest reflection of life in creative work, imbuing a mixture of depth, humor, sentimentality, and nostalgia.

Now it's your turn. Share your favorite stories in the comments below.

Hi, I'm Andi, but my stories have my full name Andrea. I read and write, read and write. I've found some amazing authors on Vocal and I appreciate everyone's support. This week, Kale Ross did a poem that had descriptions that blew me away: https://vocal.media/poets/sigurd-s-dream I loved Donna's Ode to Dr. Pepper: https://vocal.media/authors/donna-fox-hkb and Buzu's poem: https://vocal.media/poets/the-scent-of-your-memory

I'm Rachel and I write lots. So much to love about Vocal including friends made, stories read and comments answered but I LOVE the Raise Your Voice thread. It's the best! This week, I would like to draw attention to these beauties: https://vocal.media/fiction/the-ghost-of-paganini John Cox writes great stories! This one has a super twist too. https://vocal.media/fiction/destination-of-a-writer This one by Harleen demonstrates stream of consciousness at its finest https://vocal.media/poets/follow-your-feet This poem by Negomi Oak Rhetts made me eager to wander but she has other great poems too This one by Randy is perfectly balanced, such great form and content https://vocal.media/poets/existential-evanescence Any thing Paul Stewart has done this week. He does anguish, angst and defiance so well but this one about his wife is the one I'll choose because Ruth deserves it https://vocal.media/viva/ruth-the-dragon-beside-me And this one by Katie Johnson - a dystopian world in the making. Scary stuff https://vocal.media/fiction/i-promise-lx23wy0bez

Simplistic explanation: "Me like this one. https://vocal.media/fiction/anshumi" Over The Top Explanation: "Celia's work here displays the beauty in her unique take on creation and how we, as beings that have been beget by creation, have betrayed it. Almost as if the creation story that most people come across in the Bible (world's number #1 best selling book, btw) reminds us that as we reproduce and multiply and- hold up let me try to grab a quote. "Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.ā€ What that doesn't mean is to dominate the earth in a way that toxifies it, destroying the natural abundance that it blesses us with. As when we toxify our home and move one without cleaning up our mess, eventually soon, whether it's for us or for the ones that we beget in the future, that there will be no place safe to live, let alone rest out heads. If You enjoyed movies such as "FernGully: The Last Rainforest" then You'll enjoy Celia in Underland's story, "Anshumi." https://vocal.media/fiction/anshumi"

I have no link to share with this comment; but I do want to Champion my Favorite Creators. These are the Creators (Randy https://vocal.media/authors/randy-wayne-jellison-knock) that seem to read late into the night and find time to leave a thoughtful comment. The kind you back to re-read when your heart is bruised. The creators that take the time to send a message on Discord when a creator writer has been quiet for a while (Celia https://vocal.media/authors/celia-in-underland) to let you know you haven't disappeared and the world wants you back when you are ready. The creators that inspire me to be better, writer better, comment better, and STRETCH my reach (River https://vocal.media/authors/river-joy, Kenny https://vocal.media/authors/kenny-penn, SandSeaSistar/The Dani Writer https://vocal.media/authors/the-dani-writer, and Scott https://vocal.media/authors/j-s-wade) come easily to mind. Thank you all for being such an important part of my Vocal Journey

Oh, man, I remember the days of back-to-back haiku days, and everyone subsequently getting thrown off by the low read counts versus likes because the default read length is 1 minute but 17 syllables will never take that long. Nice little bit of nostalgia. Also, another (and some might say superior) Stephen on Vocal wrote a nice piece that sums up the submission hustle well. I respect the vulnerability required to include the rejection count. I could never track that number and keep my writing confidence intact, so he's a better Stephen than I: https://vocal.media/writers/has-my-writing-plateaued

Morning from a sunny Maryland. I'd like to give a shout out to Celia in Underland for this story. Watership Down made me bawl as a kid and this one had a similar feel. A masterclass in story writing right here: https://vocal.media/fiction/circle-of-life-qp1xr0dll
