Jeremy sat on a bench outside the bus station while the snow fell softly. Holding two tickets to the city in his hand, his heart was pounding. He used his savings to buy the tickets, and they would live off the rest. He looked at his watch, wondering where Colt was. They were supposed to meet at the bus stop fifteen minutes ago, and Colt wasn’t there yet.

Jeremy is from the city, and family has just moved to the country. Money was no object in his family, and Jeremy had saved some. Colt was born in this small town. His family owns a dairy farm.

It was now eight o’clock, and people were boarding the bus. Jeremy looked around for Colt—no sign of him.

Jeremy and Colt were madly in love. Neither one of them were out, so they hid it from everyone. One of the farmhands saw them kissing in the barn, and Colt was terrified his family would find out, so they had planned to run away together to the city to start a new life together.

The bus driver shouted the last call for boarding. Jeremy put his bag in the storage area and boarded the bus. As he sat in his seat, a tear rolled down his cheek. He was heartbroken. The bus pulled out of the station.

It was snowing much harder now. As he watched the bus drive away from across the street, a tear rolled down Colt’s cheek too.
