Part XXXVIII: Hot Summer Bods in Women's Sports & Fitness

We're at number 38 of the "Hot Summer Bods in Women's Sports & Fitness" series. Summer is really at its tail end, nonetheless these three amazing women who have made their marks in sports are keeping this the hottest series of the summer.

Gabrielle Collins

Back in 2018, while at Western Michigan, Gabrielle Collins won the long jump championship at the Mid American Conference outdoor championship meet. She was also a qualifier for the NCAA championships where she was one of 24 competitors across the nation.

Collins used her track and field career to influence her family to pursue higher education. "Track and field gave me the opportunity to showcase my talent," she said. "It's given me opportunity to show my family that there's more than just life after high school. I'm the first one in my family to go to college. My mother didn't go. My older brothers didn't go. After I went, I set an example. My little brother under me is going to college. My youngest brother is graduating high school this year, so he wants to go to college."

Dana Beasley

Last year, Dana Beasley was competing at the state championship of Ohio in track and field. The Akron Bucthel alum competed for her high school and was a part of the second place 1,600-meter relay. She also had a runner-up finish at the 1,600-meter relay at the indoor state championship meet as well.

Beasley was also her team's top performer in the 800-meter and 1,600-meter runs. She currently attends Kent State and is working to become an actress.

Zuri Smith

In her final volleyball season at Florida Atlantic, Zuri Smith was named the Defensive Player of the Year in Conference USA. The six-foot-three star, really showed her worth during her final season as her previous years were filled with limited playing experiences.

Smith started her college career at Colorado, but didn't see any action in 2015, before transferring to West Virginia, where she played in four sets. During her junior year at Florida Atlantic, she only played five matches.

As a high school athlete Smith as an all-state performer and team MVP at Sumter High in school.
