Part XVIII: Hot Summer Bods in Women's Sports & Fitness
Oh Canada we stand on guard for SHE!
For our 18th edition, we are checking for the greatness of Canada. These three ladies are reaching high heights in athletics and fitness by showing people that through focus, discipline and hard work, goals can be attained. There is even representation that you can stand for what you believe and have a mind, while promoting fitness and beauty.

When it comes to pole vaulters in Canada, nobody does it better than Alysha Newman. The London, Ontario native ranked fourth in the world at the abrupt end of the 2020 track season due to COVID-19.
Newman is a three-time national champion in the event, taking titles in 2016, 2017 and 2019. She won the Commonwealth Games hosted in Australia in 2018 before winning her first Diamond League crown in France during the 2019 season.
Newman holds pole vault records at University of Miami, in the ACC, for Canada and was an Olympian in 2016. Five weeks ago she made a cool video for IGTV that gave her 364,000 followers a peak into her workout.
To her followers, Cydnie Chanel is a fun but inciteful fitness trainer. With over 69,000 following her Instagram, one can see this sharp beauty bust a few moves while sharing her activism.
She speaks about how rape culture needs to end in the black community, calling out black men to protect their women and for black women to stand up for each other. She also gave a fiery speech for the Black Lives Matter movement on her IGTV space. "Four hundred years, she said. "People are fighting for freedom in their own country. It's not just one death."
Cydnie Chanel keeps it fun and appealing as well, showing off how hard work keeps her with a hot summer bod through the over 650 posts in her timeline.
This young lady from Toronto, (originally born in Switzerland) is one of the best beach volleyball players alive. After a successful indoor stint at York University, Brandie Wilkerson climed the beach volleyball circuit ladder and earned an award as the FIVB World's Best Blocker back in 2018. This award was won after only four years in the sport.
She and her teammate Heather Bansley were ranked number one in the world for three weeks during the 2018 season. The sport has allowed her to compete professionally in countries such as Mexico, Germany, Norway, Brazil, Argentina, Cuba and Croatia among others.
