My Quarantine playlist for feels and freedom
There has been an assortment of feelings throughout this whole ordeal of the Coronavirus. Our lives have been changed to live through this part that has made a devastating impact in our history. We have time to be at home now, and we have to find ways to preoccupy ourselves. There's only so much movies and TV to binge and distract. Most of the creators I've been keeping contact with have said that music has been the biggest benefactor to keeping a positive mental headspace to be at peace. I'd have to agree, because it's been a big part of my quarantine routine. To find new songs or listen to ones I have with a new respect for how it parallel to my situation and I never noticed til I had the time to sit down and understand it from a different viewpoint.

I’ll make this short and simple, because who wants to read a long paragraph instead of jamming out? During these tough times, it’s safe to say that my playlist has expanded. I have a large number of taste in music, from French tunes, to Spanish, American rap, Reggae, Japanese rap, Indie, Rock, any type of Pop, you name it. I should also mention that I listen to a lot of underrated singers and rappers. I’m not a picky person in general, I enjoy every single genre of music because behind it there’s a person that took the time to come up with the lyrics and beats. It’s a long process and it takes a lot of commitment when building an ideal album. And let me tell you, putting yourself out there is a hard thing to do. Some artists go unnoticed and some eventually reach popularity. In this list, there will be a mixture of songs I recommend, whether it’s a love song, Reggaeton Latino, Rap, or just upbeat music. Take the time to listen to them and see how you feel about them! Sit back and relax or get up and feel free to shake your booty!

Music has this crazy power to cut my mind and spirit off from the rest of the world. When I get anxious or stressed or overwhelmed, I know that I can pup in my headphones and drift off into a different plane of reality, whether that means headbanging along with DMX, jamming to the soul-shocking beats of Youngblood, or vibing to Billie Eilish.

1-20: Jess Glynne At the top of my quarantine playlist is the iconic Jess Glynne; starting with my favorite collaboration with Raye. I first discovered Jess Glynne in 2015 when she collaborated with Clean Bandit to create ‘Rather Be.’ Since that song came out she has released a few albums and they found their way to my playlist, some of the albums have a feel to it that makes you want to dance or the dishes and the others make you contemplate emotions like ‘Thursday’ or ‘Why Me.’ My absolute favorite from her recent album ‘Always in Between’ will have to be ‘I’ll Be There’ because it is uplifting to hear this amazing song about someone being there when you are at your lowest. I listen to Jess Glynne when I draw or walk around the block to get a clear head.

I love listening to movie soundtracks when working, as playing songs with lyrics makes it harder for me to concentrate. Here's a mix of calm and motivational tracks from some of the best film scores I know. I've picked one song from each of them, but please, play the full soundtrack if you can, they're all great!

Music is an important part of my everyday life, it is what gets through on my bad days. Music is what a blast from my car stereo and I listen and sing-along to. What makes this playlist quarantine you ask? well, for one I stop doing whatever I was doing and it makes me want to dance. These songs maybe old, these songs maybe new, but just know that you will want to dance your feet off.
It's A Vibe
We are currently living in uncertain times. We've lost count on how many days it has been since this stay at home order. From gaining five pounds to everyone Ticking their Toc and watching every Netflix show that streaming service has to offer, we have now become frustrated and suffering from cabin fever. One thing that has gotten us through many days is the music. I have curated a playlist to get you through all of your quarantine needs.

No one is immune to stress. We all have our days where we worry. There are days where we fear the worst. All those things can affect one's mental health, which is just as important as physical health. But do you know what the best medicine for an anxious mind is? Music! Music can boost our moods and lift our spirits. The right song can make a massive difference when we feel anxiety. So, I've compiled a playlist that is suited for calming down the nerves.

Before quarantine, I lived in the northern part of Israel. I was dancing, eating, existing on a beautiful commune in a remote town not far from the Israel-Lebanon border; it was a dream. I would call my brother sometimes and he would joke about how I joined a cult because the days were filled with dancing in a grandiose studio with floor to ceiling windows that overlooked this big, open field. The field was lush with poppies and other wildflowers, the sun constantly kissing that field with its warmth. After dance, I would go to the cafe for an iced coffee before sprawling out in the field, bathing in the heat of the sun and almost suffocating in the plush barrage of flowers. Sometimes I would bring my notepad and write, sometimes I would draw, many times I would sit in the field with my fellow commune members and we would make flower crowns to be given to whomever had a birthday coming up. No matter the activity, I found joy and pure bliss in living in the commune. Sometimes I would walk over to the house of one of teachers and we would sit and talk on his porch, greeting passersby and picking through miscellaneous mysterious fruit-flavored candies until we had certifiably tried every flavor. Living in Israel allowed me to find true happiness, even amidst difficult times and exhaustion from dancing up to seven hours a day.

When I first heard of the Coronavirus, I felt that life as we knew it would change... drastically. Boy, I wasn’t prepared for how much. I’ve never homeschooled my kids; one is now in college and the other in fourth grade, but when the bigger cities started closing schools,I knew it was only a matter of time before it got to us. Being from a smaller community, there were a lot of people who didn’t think that our schools would shut down but the four- year university that I live near was the first to close and begin online classes. Not too many weeks later, the school district decided to as well, which for preschool through high school meant a longer spring break and the younger kids were ecstatic. That was, until they found out they weren’t going back to school at all this year. Hence, homeschooling commenced. To say it’s been a challenge for both myself and my fourth grader is an understatement...subjects aren’t taught like they were even when my son was that age, not to mention when I was her age. I am grateful to her teacher and principal for making it a little easier on those of us who weren’t built to teach. Luckily, she and I both enjoy reading, so we save that for the end of the day. Her way of coping is being able to have “virtual play dates,” playing Minecraft or Wildcraft together or just messaging GIFs and funny images or memes back and forth to her friends. This gives me a little while to work on stories that I’m writing and listen to my music or just relax.
Jenn Martin-WrightPublished 4 years ago in BeatMusic that motivates
During the Covid-19 pandemic I have been unable to walk outside as I used to but I continue to get my five to seven miles in each day. It has been estimated that a brisk 20 minute walk for most adults is 2000 steps and equals about a mile. 10 city blocks equal a mile, and 200 steps is one block. Based on this I calculate my walking through the house and try to exercise in 20 minute intervals, To keep from being depressed I listen to music that motivates me. I don't have a specific play list because my preferences change frequently. If I am driving and hear a great song on the radio I will come home and look it up on Youtube and dance to it. My husband does playlists on Facebook and sometimes I glean from him. I basically just dance free style and have a ball, or do specific exercise moves.
