I love tailoring the music I listen to to the current time of the year. During the summer I love high-energy music filled with good vibes, and here are 20 of my top picks. They're a mix of different genres and different moods, but all fit perfectly for the summer.
Our world is constantly moving forward. June 2020 has been full of demonstrations and uprisings for the Black Lives Matter Movement, as well as it being Pride Month which involves raising awareness for the LGBT+ community. Both of these areas have a long way to go, as well as many other parts of society. It's interesting to look back on historical events that have taken place, how they made their mark on the world and how much the world has changed since then. Here are seven happenings that took place in the month of June.
There is no arguing that the LGBT+ community has a history full of struggle and adversity. The world has a long way to go before we achieve equality and all LGBT+ people can feel safe enough to be themselves. However, there are a lot of events to look back on that made a huge difference when they happened, and have continued to inspire and push us in the right direction ever since then. Here's a list of some LGBT+ milestones that helped drive the community forward as they made the world a better place.
This month has been full of protests, activism and politics. I want to take this opportunity to gather some information and stats on what it's like to be black and part of the LGBT+ community. Two weeks ago we joined together to show support and muted ourselves on Instagram by posting black squares, to amplify the black voices calling for justice. Way over 20 million users posted black squares on their accounts, and it was amazing to see such a large number of people taking a stand against racism.
No need for an introduction. You all know why I am writing this right now. I apologise if this article seems a bit of a mess. My brain is overwhelmed and it is hard to gather my thoughts when there are so many different things to be mad about. I am devastated, and I hope sharing this with you will help add some perspective. The most important thing is that we keep talking, writing and posting. We need to end the silence, and never let it come back. Before you continue reading, please understand that these are my own thoughts, and my intentions are not to offend anyone (except if you are racist). I understand that I will never understand. But I am on your side, and I always will be.
