Best 90s Alternative Rock Albums
The 90s was an era that might have just been one of the last golden ages of pop culture. During this time, alternative rock gained footing and quickly became a mainstream phenomenon. If you ask many rock fans, alternative rock defined the decade—and never was quite the same after.

Best Michael Jackson 'Thriller' Songs
Michael Jackson, also known as MJ and the King of Pop, was an iconic star in pop culture throughout his life. He began in a band with his older brothers known as the Jackson 5 but quickly moved on to a long solo career which landed him countless awards. His album, Thriller, is still the best-selling album of all time to this day. The intense popularity of this album was not only a musical and cultural phenomenon but very important because its success helped to pave the way for other Black artists. He was one of the first popular Black artists to consistently air music videos on MTV. It's nearly impossible to go through life without knowing the chorus by heart to at least one of his songs, especially off of this album. But if you're wondering which of the songs on this album are the top of the top, here are the best Michael Jackson Thriller songs ever recorded.
Katie MarchbankPublished 7 years ago in Beat Best New Wave Bands on Spotify
In the 1970s and 1980s, one of the most uniquely iconic genres of pop-rock was invented. That genre was new wave, and it's characterized by its uniquely electronic take on punk rock. It's not quite pop, it often has darker undertones, and it's almost inextricably linked to the glitzy, club-heavy scenes of the 80s.

"... First I snatched the streets then I snatched the charts/First I had they ear, now I have they heart..." These lines could summarize Jay-Z's career but it hardly covers everything that Jay-Z has accomplished. Jay-Z made history one more time when he became the first hip-hop artist to be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Former President Barrack Obama made a tribute towards the other inductees but made a special shootout to the hip-hop mogul. Jay-Z has accomplished so much from MC of Marcy Projects to business mogul and philanthropist and music legend.

We’ve all been there, world collapsing around us as the walls close in on a drunken shell of a body. The best cure for waking up in a pile of empty whiskey bottles and despair, though, is usually a pop song.

I love music so much that I found a new way to pay to expand my music library without downloading a million songs and taking up space on my hard drive and/or my iPod.

The list below contains the Top 10 Best Goth Rock Songs. This list is based on research and on my own personal opinions. This is the fourth single released off the “Disintegration” album. It was voted #283 on Rolling Stone’s “The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time”. The single features a picture of Robert Smith’s Wife Mary on it. This song is haunting. “I have been looking so long at these pictures of you. I almost believed they were real. I have been looking so long at these pictures of you. The pictures are all I can feel.”

I literally just posted my top tracks for January a couple of days ago, because I am a slacker, but I feel a bit like I didn't do you guys justice. I was lazy, I made a playlist, I chucked all my favourite songs on it. So! My February mix is coming in early (I'm never early) and just in time for Valentines day. This mix is for everyone, actually it might not be for those super romantic couples that like power ballads.
Samantha BentleyPublished 7 years ago in BeatAdd These Best 70s New Wave Songs to Your Playlist
I have about 2000 albums—that's vinyl for all you digital people. 1000 or so are classical, collected during my early teens, better known as the 70s. The collection is particularly strong on Beethoven, boasting perhaps 9 versions of his only opera, Fidelio. Lieder - classical German songs composed to poetry - is well covered, and so is chamber music of the 19th and 20th centuries.
Adam QuinnPublished 7 years ago in BeatArtists to Add to Your Jazz Playlist
A friend recently asked me to suggest some jazz recordings that might propel his newly developed interest, so I made him an Introduction to Jazz list with these essential artists. There are obvious omissions. No Lester Young? No Sonny Rollins? I know, I blew it - there are just too many greats and not enough time. But I did one thing right: this list contains no Kenny G.
