As Bob Hope said: “The older you get, the tougher it is to lose weight, because by then your body and your fat are really good friends.” Losing weight has been the number one enemy for food lovers since McDonalds has been invented. It's basically means burning more calories than you take in, that includes no more ice cream, no more French fries, no more burgers, can you imagine yourself living without ice cream, I rather sell my soul to the devil than to stop eating ice cream.

Let us say you have accepted your faith, and you are willing to lose some weight, because your wife told so, one of the many things you can do is to go on a diet, where you reduce your daily food in hopes you burn more calories than you take.

There are a lot of diets you can try, like the Dash diet, the Mind diet, TLC diet, or even Mayo Clinic diet. But we are not here to learn about these boring diet, we are here to talk about some really weird diets that you didn’t even know they excited, so brace yourself up, because some of them are really gross and unusual.

6 - The Tapeworm Diet

The Victorian tapeworm diet originated in the 1900s century after the women of that era tried all possible solutions to look thinner and prettier. It involves swallowing a tapeworm egg, and once the egg hatches, the worm starts eating whatever the host is eating. It is deadly, gross, and somewhat effective, perfect for people who would die to lose weight because you will literally die from it, ironically.

Although the idea may seem simple - eat whatever you want without worrying about gaining weight - the tapeworm is considered a parasite and can cause serious health problems and side effects like nausea, weakness, diarrhea, abdominal pain, hunger or loss of appetite, fatigue, and vitamin and mineral deficiencies. That is why it is illegal in many countries, including the USA.

If you are willing to take the risk, the process is very simple: just eat raw meat or fish or buy it from the internet, and there you have it, a personal "deadly" junk eater.

5 - The Ice Cube Diet

This is another weird one, but it is somewhat genius. You technically have to eat a lot of ice cubes, like a dog in a hot day, to burn more calories, causing your body to spend a lot of energy trying to heat up the ice.

Although it is an easy way to lose weight - I mean, you just have to eat ice, no big deal - it is extremely slow, as you lose only one pound or so per month. One liter of ice is equal to running one mile, which is not a major thing. However, if you are desperate to lose weight and very lazy to do so, just stick with the ice.

The only downside about this abnormal method is that it causes immense pain in your teeth because obviously eating a lot of icy things is not recommended. So imagine eating 2 kilograms of ice every day; your teeth are going to fall out before you get to lose weight. But who knows, give it a try and it may work.

4 - The Cotton Ball Diet

Honestly, I am left speechless. Whoever came up with this idea is running with a 200IQ. This diet involves eating cotton balls dipped in liquids such as juices and smoothies to trick the brain by eating a lot, and since cotton contains no calories, you won't be gaining weight.

This diet was basically originated from the modeling industry, where they encourage models to be unhealthily thin. Some chick had to push herself to the absolute limits, I'd say. I hope she is okay.

Despite that this idea is brilliant, it is extremely dangerous and risky. Eating cotton will not only cause the blockage of the digestive system, dehydration, and damage to your organs, which will lead nowhere but sad death, it can also cause choking because obviously, you can't chew cotton, so you have to swallow the whole cotton ball.

Plus, what you have is not real cotton. Hate to say it, but most cotton balls are made from bleached polyester rather than real cotton, and it is toxic. So as advice from me, just stick to the tapeworm diet. It is not an easier death, but at least it's cool.

3 - The Breatharian Diet

Once upon a time, there were a bunch of people who called themselves Breatharians (cool name, isn’t it?). These Breatharians claimed that they could live without consuming food or water, and live only on air. I don’t know who came up with this idea, but I am sure they are not a fan of ice cream.

The Breatharians say that they can only survive on "prana" (the Hindu concept of energy), and there are people who claim to have lived up to 19 years without food, which is honestly amazing. If you think that you can survive only on air and a cup of tea once a week, good luck! However, science says otherwise. The human body cannot survive more than one week without food and more than 3 days without water, so it’s scientifically impossible to be a Breatharian. But who am I to judge? Just don't push yourself if you ever try it, it’s kind of dangerous.

2 - The Baby Food Diet

We are at number 5, and it is getting weirder. As you can see from the title of this section, people tend to eat baby food only to lose weight. Started by celebrity trainer Tracy Anderson, it quickly gained popularity on the internet as an easy way to lose weight. I know what you are thinking right now, yes, it works, and it is considered one of the fastest ways to lose weight. However, there is no scientific backing that up.

Baby food lacks adequate amounts of fiber, fat, and protein that an adult human body needs to stay healthy, which makes it ideal for losing weight, at least better than eating cotton or tapeworms. "What comes fast, goes fast" and "Everything has a cost" are the most suitable proverbs for this diet. The trick to eating baby food is that you immediately regain all the weight that you have lost after switching to regular food again. Once you start this diet, you can never stop it. It’s like you sold your soul to Satan. He gave you the perfect body that you wished for, but you can never eat regular food, yes, and that includes ice cream. Your soul is cursed for the rest of eternity. Anyway, feel free to try it, but remember, what comes fast, goes fast.

1 - The Sleeping Beauty Diet

The concept of this diet is very simple and requires no special skills. You can't eat if you are sleeping. It is basically forcing your body to sleep during normal waking hours by taking sleeping pills to avoid eating or feeling hungry.

This diet requires that you sleep more than 10 hours a day and eat no more than 400 calories a day, with fasting several days per month. My opinion is that if you are dedicated enough to lose weight by sleeping the whole day and eating nothing but a banana, just go to the gym. It is easier.

This diet is not only dangerous and deadly, but also so, so, so ineffective and a complete waste of time. Science does not recommend this diet. In fact, sleeping more than 10 hours a day increases your risk of diabetes by 21 percent and your risk of heart diseases or even depression by 38 percent. So, it is not recommended to try it, and it is a total waste of time.

There are plenty of reason that will make you try a diet, but only a death wish to try these weird diets. So make sure to not try these out because it's probably not going to end well, or will it? Who am I to judge.
