Korean cuisine has gained immense popularity in recent years, and K-dramas have contributed to the rise of interest in Korean food. Many K-dramas have featured mouth-watering Korean dishes that make us drool while watching them. If you are a K-drama fan who loves to experiment with different cuisines, then you are in the right place. In this article, I will introduce you to some of the popular Korean recipes inspired by K-dramas that you can try in the comfort of your own home.

Ram-don from "Parasite":

This famous dish is a combination of two different types of instant noodles - Jjapaguri and Neoguri.

You will need:

  • 1 pack of Jjapaguri instant noodles
  • 1 pack of Neoguri instant noodles
  • 1/2 lb of sirloin steak
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  • Boil water in a pot and cook both the noodles separately for 3 minutes each.
  • In a separate pan, cook the sirloin steak with vegetable oil, salt, and pepper.
  • Combine the cooked noodles and add the sirloin steak on top.
  • Serve hot and enjoy!

Jjajangmyeon from "Itaewon Class":

This is a popular Korean-Chinese dish that is both savory and satisfying. ]

You will need:

  • 1 pack of fresh or dried jjajangmyeon noodles
  • 1/2 cup of diced pork belly or beef
  • 1 cup of diced onions
  • 1 cup of diced zucchini
  • 1 cup of diced potatoes
  • 1/2 cup of black bean paste
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  • Cook the jjajangmyeon noodles according to the package instructions.
  • In a separate pan, cook the pork belly or beef with vegetable oil, salt, and pepper.
  • Add the onions, zucchini, and potatoes and continue to stir-fry until the vegetables are tender.
  • Add the black bean paste and sugar to the pan and continue to stir-fry for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  • Serve the stir-fry over the cooked noodles and enjoy!

Samgyetang from "Crash Landing on You":

This traditional Korean dish is a hot and nutritious soup made with chicken and ginseng.

You will need:

  • 1 whole chicken, about 3-4 lbs
  • 10-12 cloves of garlic
  • 10-12 pieces of ginseng
  • 1 cup of sweet rice
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  • Rinse the chicken thoroughly and remove any giblets or excess fat.
  • Stuff the chicken cavity with the garlic and ginseng.
  • Rinse the sweet rice and add it to a pot with 8 cups of water. Bring to a boil and then reduce the heat to a simmer.
  • Place the stuffed chicken into the pot with the rice and simmer for 45-60 minutes or until the chicken is fully cooked.
  • Season the soup with salt and pepper to taste and serve hot.

Jajangmyeon from "Itaewon Class":

This popular Korean-Chinese dish is a savory noodle dish made with black bean sauce. You will need:

  • 1 pound of wheat noodles
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 zucchini, chopped
  • 1 potato, chopped
  • 1/2 cup of black bean sauce
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of oil

Instructions:

  • Cook the noodles according to the package instructions and set aside.
  • Heat the oil in a pan and add the chopped onion. Stir fry for a minute.
  • Add the chopped zucchini and potato and stir fry until slightly soft.
  • Add the black bean sauce and sugar and stir fry for another minute.
  • Add the cooked noodles and mix well.
  • Serve hot.

Kimchi fried rice from "Let's Eat 2":

This simple yet delicious dish is a staple in Korean cuisine.

You will need:

  • 2 cups of cooked rice
  • 1/2 cup of kimchi, chopped
  • 1/2 onion, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon of oil
  • 1 tablespoon of gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 1 egg

Instructions:

  • Heat the oil in a pan and add the chopped onion. Stir fry for a minute.
  • Add the chopped kimchi and gochujang and stir fry for another minute.
  • Add the cooked rice and mix well.
  • Create a well in the center of the pan and crack the egg into it. Stir fry until the egg is cooked.
  • Mix the egg into the fried rice and serve hot.

Bibimbap from "Descendants of the Sun":

This colorful dish is a Korean classic made with a variety of vegetables and rice.

You will need:

  • 2 cups of cooked rice
  • 1 carrot, julienned
  • 1 zucchini, julienned
  • 1/2 cup of spinach, blanched
  • 1/2 cup of bean sprouts, blanched
  • 1/2 cup of shiitake mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon of oil
  • Gochujang sauce (Korean chili paste sauce) for serving

Instructions:

  • Heat the oil in a pan and add the sliced shiitake mushrooms. Stir fry until slightly browned.
  • Add the julienned carrot and zucchini and stir fry for another minute.
  • Add the blanched spinach and bean sprouts and stir fry for a few seconds.
  • Divide the cooked rice among bowls and top with the stir fried vegetables.
  • Fry an egg and place it on top of the vegetables.
  • Serve with gochujang sauce on the side.
