‘Who’s THAT Girl? She’s so cool! I wanna grow up so fast, I wanna be like her’ the words that perhaps, most of us were once uttered when we were just little whenever a beautiful woman passess by. Well, it’s the beginning where young girls will be admiring and aspiring to grow up fast to be THAT GIRL in her twenties.

Transitioning to womanhood while also navigating the world of adulting is more difficult to what we may have been seen through our perspective before as a little kid; and now that we already welcomed the adulting chapter of our lives we once dreamed of, it’s quite surprising that it does not look the way we pictured it out to be. Responsibilities are waiting ahead on the edge, tons of pressure in academics and in finance while figuring things out on your own and your purpose.

But despite juggling and struggling into the adulting journey, as a woman, we still have this ambition to thrive to be the best version of ourselves — to be THAT GIRL we aspired to be.

THE IDEA OF ‘THAT GIRL’

‘THAT GIRL’ is what Generation Z has been calling to the girls who always seem to look put together because of their beauty, their sunshine energy, aesthetic, and the way they carry themselves with poise and grace.

But to be that ‘That Girl’ is beyond skin deep and their aesthetic, because these women also seem to have their life together seamlessly amid the pressure of life. To be like them entails a lot of hard work, effort, discipline, and love to oneself. How did these women do it? Here are the tips on how to be the best version of yourselves while navigating the life of adulting.

TO BE THAT GIRL

Practice Self-care

Adulting is already challenging, thus, it is crucial to take care of yourselves by practicing self-care routines. Self-care is about taking care of yourself physically, mentally, and emotionally. By doing so, it would help to regulate your emotions, decision-making, and even your physical and mental wellness.

There are a lot of ways on how to improve and to make sure you are taking care of yourself. First, let’s begin with a self-care routine for your physical wellness. To help you start, here are some lists on how to achieve a balanced physical well-being.

  • Let’s move, Girl!

What are you still doing, Girl? Let’s move! Choose a workout that you would enjoy doing whatever it may be. It may be running, pilates, dancing, walking, High-Intensity Interval Training workouts, or even a sport that you love playing – these are all considered, as long as you are moving your body for at least 30 minutes to 1 hour.

Also, ladies, if your mind is clouded, working out is also a good option to divert your attention and release endorphins for good moods!

  • Good Food, Good Mood

Feeding your body with balanced and healthy meals is also a part of self-care, and eating vegetables and fruits is not just to have a sexy figure. Well, a healthy diet would also help to boost your mood, improve your memory and concentration, affect your decision making skills, and can even increase your level of optimism.

  • Be consistent with your Skincare routine

They say, “A ‘That Girl’ routine is never complete without skincare”. Well, to achieve that, it is also essential to have a set of skincare routines that would be best for you. The basic products and steps for that:

1. Cleanser/cleanse

2. Toner/tone

3. Moisturizer/moisturize.

Girls, take note that your skincare routine does not have to be expensive, just do whatever works for you. Do your own, girly! And make sure to apply sunscreen before going out under the sun, and reapply it after every two hours.

  • Hair Care routine

Hey, Girly! Don’t forget to treat and care for your hair too. Washing and nourishing your hair with the products that fit best for your straight or curly hair would also surely make you to be ‘That Girl’ who shines and confident with herself, as what they have said, hair is our crowning glory, Girlies!

  • Self-care is not achieved without Sleep!

For everything that has been happening in life, and after striving all day, we owe yourselves a rest and a good night’s sleep because it would be hard to function if you deprived yourself of it. Also, ladies, keep in mind that the efforts we put in working out, eating, and skin care routines would be wasted if we sacrifice a precious sleep. So, let’s establish a consistent sleep schedule, and avoid caffeine and alcohol before bedtime, and don’t forget to drink a glass of water before we sleep for a clearer skin in the morning.

Pay attention to your Mental well-being

You wouldn’t be ‘That Girl’ with a glowing and vibrant energy if you did not pay attention to your mental health. Hence, to complete achieving your ‘How to be That Girl’ aspiration, you should also start prioritizing your mental health!

  • Journaling: Translating your thoughts into words

To learn to acknowledge and regulate your emotion, it is a good exercise to do journaling for releasing your emotions, to meditate, to track your goals, improvements, and even how your day went. Through this way, it would help to clear out your mind and to have a clearer vision for yourself.

  • Read to learn and understand oneself

Including reading as one of your hobbies and in your self-care routine is also a good practice. Through this, we would learn and discover new things we did not know yet by just reading. We will learn, including in learning to understand yourself through the character you are reading, and above all, you would get closer to humanity.

Moreover, and most importantly, keep in mind that ‘That Girl’ are also having their worst days. Hence, do not ever forget to listen to your body, to allow yourself to just exist in the times that you are not feeling to be the best version of yourself and to be ‘that’ girl. This is also the essence of self-care, and when this situation comes, may you continue to love yourself and pour more amidst your unlovable days. Remember, you would be with yourself for the rest of your life.
