Learning to breathe:
Scales are my nemesis. Not because I truly struggle with weight, thanks for birdlike genetics on my mother’s side, but because generally speaking, as I approach my mid-40’s my weight has decided to settle comfortably in a “healthy” zone, and just hang out. I used to monitor the numbers with an eagle eye, frantically trying to evaluate the impact of dietary changes, workouts, etc.. to no avail. The only adjustment was upward, as I inevitably fell victim to the Corona relapse. But even that was lackadaisical, as if the even effort of gaining weight seemed like too much work.

As a guy my inner glow isn't sweet and pretty, it's more like amped up and fired up with high energy and happy vibes. Sleep is a weapon. It's true because when you are well-rested you can smash the day like LeBron James on a wrecking ball. I have to get up super early so I aim to snooze by 10 pm.
From Fat to Fit
A story I wrote for my sister. My story I’ve struggled with weight and the D word “diet” ewww for a very long time. Stepping on that stupid scale everyday. I tried every D word possible and they work for a minute and then stop or they don’t work at all. I would get discouraged then binge eat and then feel bad about. That would make me depressed and stress which causes cortisone levels to rise and that causes belly fat. So it was a lose lose cycle. I even signed up for weight loss surgery and was on the final step of it. I decided not to do it because it’s costly and I lost some weight and no longer qualified, but not enough to be healthy. I tried pills and diet fads, I mean I tried EVERYTHING except treating my body right. Having SLE Lupus and Fibromyalgia didn’t help either. Steroids, pain meds, psych meds, etc. I was on over 30 pills a day including insulin pills and shots. It was really bad and I was hospitalized for weeks at a time every month! I know some of yall remember. Notice I haven't been in the hospital as much. I even developed sleep apnea!

You know we never see ourselves how people see us. The picture on the left, I thought I was cute AF. Then a year later, a friend took another picture of me while we were celebrating my aunts birthday and then I was WTF????!!!!??? I was soooooo mad at myself for letting my body get like this. I was nearly 300 lbs. I sat there and cried. I yelled at my husband and asked him why he never said anything. I wanted to blame someone else, but at the end of the day this was all on me.

6 Ways Ashtanga Yoga Transformed My Practice
When I first started practicing yoga in 2017, I was a skeptic who had no idea about all the different types of yoga. As an office worker, I had too much stress and I didn’t exercise often enough. That combination of problems led me to yoga, but I only dipped my toes into the world of yoga at first.
Leigh FisherPublished 4 years ago in Longevity How to Lose Weight and Keep it Off
Do you want to lose extra weight and keep it off? I will share with you some advise that I have gained in my years of loosing weight. I have lost over 200 lbs following this advise. First this might seem common sense but my first advise is drink lots of water. Make sure you are hydrating your body. The human body is 70% is H2O which is simply water. In order to maintain equilibrium and balance of bodily function the body must be 70% H2O water. Water is good for you for many reasons, first it keeps body moving and running as it should. Second it cleans your body from toxins, bacteria and other impurities that have entered the body from food consumption or breathing unhealthy products in the air like carbon dioxide. Think of water as the cheapest medicine that your body needs and requires for functioning well.

Prom Dresses and Free Yoga: An Honest Account of How I Became a Fitness Instructor
There is this illusion that some people grow up inherently fit and driven towards athleticism. That was never me. I want to talk about how I integrated fitness into my life, because I started where I know a lot of people start- trying to get into a dress.

Now that I have your attention with my clever title... Let's talk PRE-WORKOUT SUPPLEMENTS. There are swarms of different opinions regarding the use of pre-workout supplements. My personal opinion is that our body does a good job of telling us when we need to move and when we need to rest (I have never used any form of "pre-workout" unless you count a cup of coffee!), but my opinion does not have to be yours. If you prefer high intensity fitness or are constantly striving to hit a new level at the gym, taking energy boosters beforehand are helpful.

Everyone loves to support a small business, right? Although Burn Boot Camp is a nationwide company, each location is a franchise with a different owner. The location I attend, Burn Boot Camp Las Vegas, is owned by Mallory Kanos and employs head trainer, Jenna Stevens. Both of these women symbolize strength and girl power to the members of our gym and have truly made Burn Boot Camp Las Vegas set itself apart from any other gym I have attended. If you are considering trying a new gym, I cannot recommend Burn Boot Camp highly enough.
