The Sand Hills
The memory that will forever be burned into my mind and soul is the one that sparked and shaped my passion for life. It was the utmost natural and authentic feelings of my existence and occurred when I was miles away from familiarity.
Bohemian BirdPublished 2 years ago in EarthDocumentary Review: 'Beanie Mania' Comes to HBO MAX
YouTuber Jenny Nicholson, arguably that platform’s best personality, has been talking about doing a video on the Beanie Baby phenomenon for some time now. And that is, in all honesty, the only reason I subjected myself to the new HBO Max documentary Beanie Mania. I am really eager to see Jenny do a video on this unique subject and I thought having a little more background on the topic might enhance how much fun her video will be. That said, there are some fascinating elements to Beanie Mania in and of itself.

In my small-town, Midwestern high school, my film teacher makes a homophobic joke about my project. The principal is sitting in on class today. Maybe my teacher feels the breath on the back of his neck. Maybe he doesn’t think about it at all.
Ivy JongPublished 2 years ago in MotivationWhat Martin Scorsese Taught Me Under The Table
Did you really meet the famous director/producer Martin Scorsese under a table, people ask? I did, at the NATPE convention in Vegas, and years later, the story is as quirky and memorable in the way I met him and a facet of my authentic self.
Zel HarrisonPublished 2 years ago in ConfessionsThe day I stopped biting my tongue
For the past two years and a half of my life (minus one year of interruption caused by the incident that we will not mention in this post) I have worked in the most chaotic, most infuriating and at times most fun industry that there is: the events industry. I started as just a regular waitress, then I moved onto being a senior waitress and now I finally rest comfortably in the role of an event coordinator: which means I get twice the responsibility and the stress for just a teeny tiny increase in salary.
Maria LebadaPublished 2 years ago in ConfessionsTights, Tutus, and... Gray Hairs?
A distant echo of squeals greets me as I open the front door. My heart leaps from my chest into my throat. I hesitate for a moment before starting my climb up the seemingly neverending flight of stairs.
Jacaranda C.Published 2 years ago in MotivationREVIEW - Spider-Man: No Way Home
Now that's how you do a fan-pleasing movie. In all honesty, Spider-Man: No Way Home is an indulgent, over-the-top, absurd cash-in of a film. It's also an absolute joy. Is it designed to be the perfect fan-service for Marvel and Spider-Man fans, which is exactly what it is. This film is tremendous fun, and is far better than it really needs to be. No Way Home could have gotten away with being a stream of classic character cameos and patented Marvel CGI-heavy fights. What we got was a film with genuine heart, intelligent storytelling and three-dimensional characters brought to life by some of our most acclaimed actors and up-and-coming stars.
Daniel TessierPublished 2 years ago in GeeksThe Truth About Teaching
Teaching. It is considered to be one of the most fulfilling careers. It is the type of job where you truly have to be passionate about it to enjoy it. Lucky for me, I have known that teaching was my calling since I created a “school” out of my garage for the neighborhood kids when I was only eleven years old. It became my dream to have my own classroom one day and make a difference in my students’ lives.

“I’ll start my diet on Monday” “I’ll lose the weight next year, I promise” “Once I lose this weight my life will be so much better”. I tell myself these small platitudes and for the briefest of moments, I truly believe them. I think I want to believe them because we’re so conditioned to believe that our worth is tied to our outward beauty.
Miranda Mariana MaloyPublished 2 years ago in VivaLet’s Kiss Our Way to Christmas
There’s only one thing I truly want under the Christmas tree this year — that old fuzzy blanket we love so much, your head on my chest and that precious little shy smile you smile that says so much
Gregory D. WelchPublished 2 years ago in Poets30 Days of Yoga To Relax Your Mind and Body
As a health and fitness writer, it’s embarrassing to admit I have been falling into various bad habits lately. When the pandemic began, and almost everyone went into quarantine, stress was high, and I decided to let some things go.

Showing my authentic self has always been a great joy of mine. With having such a diverse and wonderful collection of friends and family, I am fortunate enough that my authenticity has been respected and appreciated for the largest part of my life.
Holiday Survival Guide: This is How to (Properly) Argue with Your Drunk Uncle
You probably shouldn’t argue with your family during the holidays, buuuut if you do, here’s how you do it right. Look, let’s be real, we all have that one (or ten) family members that just get under your skin after a few too many eggnogs. Am I right? And they tend to follow a sort of unspoken pattern to carry out their plan for ultimate pain-in-the-assness.
Gregory D. WelchPublished 2 years ago in FamiliesAndy Warhol's Superhuman Portrayal of Fragile Women
A Promethean (rebelliously creative) inventor and a receptive artist. A painter who was never considered a serious artist but rather a commercial one. And an artist who radicalized the art market by erasing a concept so important to western Art: "Uniqueness" and "Originality".

I saw the lanky legged colt with the fire red coat staring at me from the pasture. I was there to buy an adult horse that would be good for my experience level... which was close to zero. However, this little colt demanded my attention and I soon realized that this young, less than spectacular horse was going to be mine. I didn't care that I wouldn't be able to ride him, or that I knew nothing about training a horse; I just knew that this was my horse and I was his person. I saw myself in him... my 12 year old self often felt out of place and without purpose.
Fantage & Other MMORPGs: A Queer Awakening
Six months ago, during the height of Pride Month, I wrote about some of my favorite LGBTQIA+ creators where I naively referred to myself as a "cishet ally." Since then I've done a lot of self reflection and ultimately, a lot of healing from childhood trauma leading to me being able to admit, for the very first time in my 23 years of life, that I am not straight. To be honest, the signs were always there.
C.R. HughesPublished 2 years ago in PrideA Lifetime of Dog Years with Tommy
As always in December, Tommy’s been on my mind. I thought about him as we trimmed the tree with the pictures and dog tags of the seven dogs who've walked by our sides these last 24 years. I thought about him as we ate a tuna casserole one Sunday in December because tuna was his very favorite food, so much so that when we visit his grave we bring a can of tuna instead of flowers.

I step out of the shower and grab the towel hanging right next to me. My reflex is to cover my body immediately, so he doesn’t see it so clearly in this bright LED light.

If Memory Foam Isn’t The Perfect Mattress For You, Go Hybrid. Here’s Why!
Earlier this year, I was desperately searching for a mattress that would help me fall asleep and stay asleep all night. If you read my previous story, How Seasonal Changes Impact Your Sleep (Without You Even Knowing), then you know I’ve always struggled to get a good night’s rest. I performed extensive research online and amongst friends, and I ultimately found my Lull Mattress. I still remember the day my premium memory foam bed arrived at my home. I was excited to try something new, but certainly had my doubts. Little did I know that the contents of that simple box would have the power to shift my relationship to sleep forever. After nearly 1 year of resting, not just sleeping, on my Lull Original Mattress, I can honestly say that my life has changed for the better. I’ve gone from tossing and turning all night, to falling into a deep and restful sleep almost immediately. I’ve also noticed that I wake up in a far better mood as opposed to sleeping on my previous spring mattress, and that my Lull regulates my body temperature and cools me down at night.
