10 Reasons Why Marijuana Is Illegal

10 Reasons Why Marijuana Is Illegal

Debates over marijuana laws have been going on since the 1900s in the United States. Marijuana’s prohibition began in the 1920s, and it was identified as a Schedule I drug in the 1930s; among the company of other Schedule I controlled substances such as heroine, DMT, and peyote, to name a few. After some time though, there was actually a tax placed on marijuana with the Tax Act of 1937, which was meant to impose a tax on the occupational sale of marijuana and hemp products. This went on through World War II, and it was only in 1970 that the Controlled Substances Act outlawed marijauna completely, including medical uses, effectively repealing the 1937 Marijuana Tax Act and solidifying its status in this country as a controlled substance.

Is Cannabis on Its Way to Federal Legalization?

Cannabis legalization has always been a touchy topic regardless of whether the debate was about the medical or recreational variant of the plant. Obviously, the biggest reason why there were so many people opposing legalization was the fact that the cannabis industry as a whole lacked scientific background.

    Quitting Marijuana

    Quitting Marijuana

As a young adult, I was dating a boy for about two years in high school. We both made a promise to each other to refrain from pot and sex until we were eighteen and prepared. One night I went to bring him some food at work where he was closing until eleven, and at 6 PM he was gone... I didn’t hear from him for two more days, as his mom and I frantically searched for answers. He had smoked weed with friends breaking our promise and passed out for a whole day.

5 Ways to Hemp Your Life (and Why)

Hemp is inarguably one of the most versatile and useful plants on the planet. In fact, it was so important to our economy that farmers in the colonial days were once required to grow hemp for use of the fibers to produce commodities like paper, ropes, and fuel. The declaration of independence was drafted on hemp paper, George Washington and John Adams farmed hemp, and President Abraham Lincoln used hemp oil to fuel his lamps.

In 2019, I'm no longer afraid to say it—I smoke a ton of weed. Well, maybe smoke isn't necessarily the right word anymore, so let me rephrase that: I consume a large amount of THC. After all, smoking weed is SO 2018. I think it's important to switch up your methods, especially when you're looking at it from a health standpoint. Smoking weed isn't necessarily conducive for your health, but intaking it in other ways is.

    Marijuana

    Marijuana

A lot of people disregard marijuana, weed, pot, reefer, etc. as a gateway drug. I believe it can be depending on the person, as it was in my case. Trying any substance can easily lead to curiosity of other substances. I smoked marijuana for the first time my freshman year in high school. I fell in love with the effects of being high. I got to the point to where I would skip class to get high with friends. My senior year I would smoke marijuana every night before bed. I noticed I would be extremely sleepy and groggy the next morning. I would fall asleep during class and get in trouble. Marijuana would make me lazy, tired, and unproductive. I told myself I would never try any other drug, especially meth or heroin. Marijuana would lead me to curiosity of other substances later on.
