It is safe and emotionally beneficial to agree that it is hard to be in a relationship, date, or marry someone who has Borderline Personality Disorder, BPD because they have strong emotions that can change quickly.

They may have trouble maintaining stable relationships and may see things as either very good or very bad. It's important to learn about their disorder, communicate openly, set boundaries, and take care of yourself.

It's not your job to fix them but to support them as they work on managing their symptoms. With patience and self-care, you can have a healthy and loving relationship with someone who has BPD.

BPD might be called different things in different places, but the signs are the same.

People with borderline personality disorder feel very strong emotions that can change quickly. They have trouble keeping their feelings in check, which can make it hard for them to have steady friendships. They see things as either good or bad and may switch their feelings about someone very quickly. This can make it tough to have a smooth relationship with them because they can act without thinking and get upset easily.

They also try hard to not be left alone, like jumping into relationships quickly or ending them suddenly. Having relationships that are intense and always changing with family and friends. Not feeling sure about who you are. Doing things without thinking, like spending a lot of money or hurting yourself. Sometimes feeling really happy and energetic, but sometimes feeling really low. Feeling like you don't have a sense of self. Getting really angry or not being able to control your anger. Feeling like you're not yourself or like things aren't real. Some people might not have all of these symptoms and how bad they are can vary from person to person.

It's important to try to make your home a calm and peaceful place. This can help everyone feel better, especially those who have BPD. They like things to be predictable. By avoiding arguments and disagreements at home, we can help prevent any problems that might come up. It's also important to speak up for yourself when needed, so they don't turn the tantrum into a continuous pattern.

It's okay to tell someone with BPD that their accusations are not true and not get into arguments about it. Standing your ground can help prevent the situation from getting worse. Take their threats of self-harm seriously and seek help immediately.

Some may view these threats as manipulative or attention-seeking, but what you may not know is that approximately 10% of individuals with BPD die by suicide. This means that if they are threatening to harm themselves or even just mentioning thoughts or plans, it is crucial to involve professional help immediately. Call 911 or the National Suicide Hotline. In short, acknowledge that they are in immense pain and express your concern while still maintaining your healthy boundaries. Furthermore, encourage them to seek therapy. Unlike many other diagnoses, most individuals with BPD are open to the idea of therapy. This is because they are uncomfortable with their emotions and would like to find a way to alleviate them. This is why there is hope, and many individuals with BPD can fully recover. Many individuals with BPD can fully recover, so supporting them in their efforts can greatly benefit your long-term relationship.

In terms of effective treatment options, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, and DBT have been proven to be the most successful.

It's also of immense importance to take care of yourself and seek support from others. Therapy for yourself can also be beneficial in managing the relationship. Overall, loving someone with BPD can be challenging but with clear communication and support, the relationship can thrive.
