The Recipe for Life
Gia sighed as she unlocked the front door of Inoltrare and walked into the office. She grew up in this restaurant, the stainless-steel appliances and steaming pots like a second home, watching the line cooks complete the mise en place before the dinner rush began. She was chopping vegetables and deglazing pans for sauces before she even learned her times tables. She had loved the busy pace and high energy atmosphere that filled the kitchen every night. But nothing compared to watching her father, the executive chef and owner, while he made his masterpieces come to life on the stove. Gia could only classify the way he cooked as organized chaos, a flurry of action that was almost manic, yet resulted in dishes that were unrivaled. Lorenzo was a visionary in the kitchen. He was able to take traditional recipes and give them a modern twist, giving the diner the comfort of the familiar and the excitement of the new in one bite. He was one of the most celebrated chefs in the city and Inoltrare was one of the best restaurants around. Gia knew from a young age that she wanted to follow her father’s footsteps and one day take over the restaurant from him. Lorenzo offered for her to continue to learn at the restaurant and forgo formal training, but she insisted on attending culinary school. She wanted to earn her position at Inoltrare and even after her return from graduating at the top of her class at the Culinary Institute of America, she started on the line. She worked hard and made her way up the ranks until she earned the position of sous chef, working directly under her father. Her and Lorenzo worked side by side for two years; it was the happiest time of her life.

Superbowl Game Day Grub! 🏈
Are YOU a huge sports fan? Maybe just a football fan? Or just a Superbowl fan? ..Or a fan of any excuse to indulge in mouth savoury snacks on a weekend? Drink some beer? Or a great gambler? Bets ! Yes I know many people use this opportunity to test their luck and win BIG . I admit, I am more of a "snack" fan than a huge sports fan. I do enjoy watching Basketball and Track and Field. Oblivion Comics & Coffee: A Sacramento Tragedy
I first visited the hidden gem that was Oblivion Comics & Coffee in December of 2018 shortly after discovering their presence in Downtown Sacramento. There were not a whole lot of businesses that I had known of in the area that utilized the same concept of merging comic culture and coffee, so my interest was piqued. I myself had brainstormed that kind of idea before, in a "what do I want to do with my life" kind of way, so to see a coffee shop/comic book store in real life and so close to home was a wonder to me. It made Sacramento just feel cooler.

Vegans like Football Too
I get it... football isn't exactly the top sport that comes to mind when you think of veganism, and traditional Super Bowl menus are full of cheese, meat in all of its many forms and other non vegan items. There’s usually not a vegetable in sight, and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gone out with friends to watch a game and the only option available to me is the carrot + celery combo on the side of the wings. Don’t get me wrong, I’m grateful for the afterthought, but why can’t there ever be a gametime snack that happens to be fully plant-based?

Slow Cookers: The True MVP
I grew up with a mom who wasn't much for cooking - in fact, she often joked that if kitchens were optional, our house wouldn't have one. As a result, I ate a lot of "Crock Pot dinners" as a kid. When I grew up and got a slow cooker of my own, I discovered why my mom was so besotted with her trusty Crock Pot!
