A Simple Tattoo Can Go A Long Way

A Simple Tattoo Can Go A Long Way

My life has not been the worst, but most certainly not the best. A lot of my issues seem to come from the lack of self confidence, but there are some things about myself that I have not felt insecure about at all where most people would.

    My Hair, My Rules

    My Hair, My Rules

Growing up, I never had one length or style that I would keep. My mom always favoured my mid-back length, golden wavy hair, because it looked more feminine and modern in her eyes. On the contrary, my dad was not as picky about hair length or style, unless it was outrageous, inappropriate or immodest. Whether I had straight chin length hair or wavy hair that touched the bottom of my shoulders, he did not care as much as my mom did. As a little girl, my mom or the nanny would always put my hair up in pigtails, half-ponytails, ponytails or I would wear it completely down if I was too lazy to put it up or if my mom wanted to do my hair for me one Sunday morning. My mom never allowed me to have bangs, because she assumed that curly-haired people would not look appealing in bangs, even though I have always been attracted to bangs on both straight-haired and curly-haired people. The odd time, I would get my hair highlighted and colored during my childhood and adolescence. My dad did not like that, but my mom did not care if my hair was a slightly colored or highlighted. There was just something about bangs that caught my eye: that they looked mature, attractive, doll-like and at the same time youthful and modest. Sometimes, I felt too young and plain without bangs, but I couldn't be free to simply ask the hairdresser to give me bangs with my mom waiting for me in the waiting area at the hair stylist's.

Is a Hair Transplant the Best Solution for Hair Loss?

Is a Hair Transplant the Best Solution for Hair Loss?

Hair loss, which affects approximately half of adults over the age of 50, can be stressful and detrimental to self confidence. Over the years, however, science has granted us the power to prevent and even reverse signs of losing our hair. The myriad hair loss treatments that we use today range from extremely simple methods—such as simply changing your hairstyle—to methods that come closer to the source of the problem, like medication and surgery. But how do you know which method is right for you? What method of hair loss treatment will be most effective in allowing you to look the way you want to look?

    A Case for Drugstore Beauty

    A Case for Drugstore Beauty

As a Sephora employee, I hear a lot of unpopular makeup opinions. I also get the luxury of trying every new product that rolls its way onto the black tile. But before I was a Sephora doll, I was a CVS drugstore beauty die-hard, and after you swatch enough liquid lipsticks and shimmer shadows, you start to wonder what that $20 price difference really boils down to. Is buying drug store makeup bad for you or your skin? Does using drugstore brands make you "bad" at makeup?

    Skincare Series

    Skincare Series

I’ve seen a meme going around lately that jokes about perfect skin being wasted on children and MAN is that the truth! It seems like every day there is a new skin condition that pops up in attempt to strike down our dreams of clear, youthful skin. I like to consider myself a bit of a human guinea pig, so I’ve tried my fair share of skincare products, treatments, etc. in attempt to get perfect skin as well as go after any issue I’m having on my face at the time. My main concerns are typically breakouts, oiliness and then I’m a huge proponent of anti-aging at any age so being preventative on that front is my jam.

    Being a blank canvas

Tattoos are getting more and more elaborate and amazing. Artists are making great strives to push the envelope when it comes to tattoos. It only makes sense for tons of people to want to get tattoos. Interestingly enough it wasn't too long ago when tattoos were frowned upon. Tattoos are still frowned upon in most countries outside of western society. Not all of them or course. In fact western society has even appropriated some tattoos from other cultures.

Animal Cruelty in the Makeup Community

Animal Cruelty in the Makeup Community

Animals all over the world are being abused and tortured through animal testing of cosmetic products. Many places like the United States require new ingredients to be tested on animals before being released to the public, and China requires all makeup sold in the country to be tested on animals. But this behavior is not acceptable. There are thousands of already approved ingredients for companies to choose from for places like the United States, and if all makeup companies refuse to sell in China, they too could wake up to the reality of their cruel laws and save thousands of animals lives.

    My 'No Poo' Experience

'No Poo' is basically 'No Shampoo' and what it is is pretty much self-explanatory. It is intended to make your hair silky soft and lustrous and restore its natural shine which was stripped by the harsh chemicals that are used in shampoos. I have come across this during a conversation with a close one and thought, hmm..., maybe I should try it out.

    Hair Beyond Dead Cells

I have a lot of dumb tattoos, I've made a lot of questionable makeup decisions, and I pierced my own nose in my high school bathroom at 17. So when we talk about "body art", I feel like I'm more of an abstract piece people see in the MoMA and wince at. Like, is it high quality? No. Can you compare it to the Mona Lisa? Probably not. I can get away with it, though, because art is subjective, and hey I'll drink to that.

Acne, oily or dry skin, I know a cure. But it isn't cheap...

You're probably thinking to yourself, "Oh God what injection do I need to get and how much is it going to cost?" or you could be thinking "Hurry up and tell me what the cure is!". I promise I will but chances are if you are reading this then you may be frustrated with constant acne outbreaks or dry skin. Trust me, I used to have the worst skin ever and I hated it. But luckily, I found a product that solved all my skin problems. Now, before I tell you what it is I used to clear all this up I am going to give you a little back story of how I came to find the cure, La Mer.
