When I need to wander, I choose the comfort of blue velvet seats. The 18th Street pink line stop is filled with paintings on its steps, and so many sunsets over the city horizon. You can see the lines of aging Chicago homes stretch across the Pilsen neighborhood standing from the elevated train platform. When I put on my headphones here, I know that the area is a sponge for my anxiety.

Mirror Mirror on the Wall, What in the World is Going On?
As you can already tell, the world is a mess. Throughout childhood, you may have distracted yourself from the weight of bills, impending court dates, and car insurance by watching a little bit of TV. Budding goth kids, such as myself, may have found solace in The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy coming on Cartoon Network after school.

Stream It: Horror Movie Night
Fog engulfs the hills. Streetlights flicker outside your window while the growing wind howls across the roof tiles. The house is empty, void of movement, and it is getting late. Darkness of the evening hours begin seeping from the large glass windows into the walls. Even with your dog at your side, you can't help but shake the feeling that you aren't really alone in the living room.

The College Dorm Tortoise
During my junior year of college, I was a complete mess. Fully occupied with the demands of working and being a full time student, I didn't even think of trying to own a pet. Taking care of anything, other than my mental health, was out of the question.

My Tortoise Made Me Buy ItFirst place in Add to Cart Challenge
No, I do not have free will under the high council of the tortoise. Thousands of years of knowledge is stored in the wrinkled heads of my loveable pets. They built the sacred temple of their meetings by claw, and they require the utmost respect. In order to speak with them, you must present them with a gift in exchange for their time. Just in case you're wondering, the high council is made up of Socrates, Migi, and Tusk (my pets).

Spending $1200 for my Chemistry Exam
Naturally, my laptop decided to explode a few days before an important chemistry exam at my university. The weight of my anxiety, an utter disappointment in technology, and the feeling of a cringe-worthy hit to my checking account had done it in for me. I could not believe that in a matter of minutes, my laptop went from a functioning technological miracle to an archaic piece of garbage. All of these elements combined were the sinister formula for my terrible weekend this past February.

Before Us
I tried to wipe the blood off, draining a new bottle of Merlot into the sink. I couldn't think of him anymore. He was in everything, and I couldn't escape his smile. The look on his face when I brought home tickets to see the newest superhero movie drained from my hippocampus.

Current Bank Account Balance: $14.57 Am I employed? No. Did I get stuff anyway? Unfortunately yes. I know, I am mad at me too. To this day, I am still scolding myself for overspending during the school semester despite not having any income. Due to the onset of the pandemic, I packed up all my belongings and returned home. Which means that besides school, I am very very bored. So how did I fix that boredom? Spending money on things I don't necessarily need!

Beauty Products of Instagram💋
At around 3 am, my credit card becomes scared for its life. The demons of my poor shopping addiction slither around from my PNC account card to the glowing laptop on my bed. Throughout the night, they continuously encourage me to click on the "add to cart" button. I am no match for every cute top or accessory that I lay eyes upon, and I know a reckless purchase is imminent.
