What happened to all my money over the semester?

Current Bank Account Balance: $14.57

Am I employed? No. Did I get stuff anyway? Unfortunately yes.

I know, I am mad at me too. To this day, I am still scolding myself for overspending during the school semester despite not having any income. Due to the onset of the pandemic, I packed up all my belongings and returned home. Which means that besides school, I am very very bored. So how did I fix that boredom? Spending money on things I don't necessarily need!

When my schoolwork wasn't taking up most of the day, I stayed up late into the evenings scrolling on social media. My interests ranged from watching artists on Tiktok, enjoying stationery hauls on Youtube, and feeding into the Instagram shopping ads. On my IG explore page, I received a lot of incentive to buy from various sticker and stationery companies. To no one's surprise, I bought into the soft pastels and kawaii desk decor that screamed out for my routing number.

Regardless of my chaotic "Add to Cart" button pushing, I was still stunned to see a huge chunk of my savings majorly depleted in a short amount of time. I have to redeem myself of my purchases somehow, which is exactly what this review is for!

A curious reader may ask: Kyra, where exactly did it all go?

Well, here are the sites where Tiktok, Youtube, and Instagram led me:

1. Stationery Pal

Stationery Pal is a company that sells a myriad of stationery products, desk organizers, and fashionable totes.

When browsing the site, I noticed that a lot of the products were on the more affordable end. This was good news for me, since I planned on getting at least $30 worth of stuff to add to my collection.

I loved all of the options for pens and highlighters, as many were the type of style I craved. You can find so many types of gel pens, memo pads, fountain pens, stamps, etc. on this site! Depending on your preference, there are a handful of color varieties to choose from.

Menu Options for Products!

What caught my attention above all else was the bullet journal kits! As someone with anxiety disorder, I have been looking for a medium to capture my feelings and let out my daily thoughts in a private way. Even though the prices were around $40 for a kit, I happily added the "Mint" set to my bag.

I loved the pink packaging it came in, and I got so many great products in the green color theme!

On their website, you can find even more Stationery Pal haul videos to check out what other YouTubers have purchased!

What I purchased:

Here, I included a screenshot of some of my favorite items that I bought. The washi tape and stamps were absolutely adorable, and looked great on my letters to friends!

Keep in mind, that shipping may hike up the price of your order even though everything is relatively cheap. For my package to arrive at my doorstep, it took about 2 1/2 weeks. Be prepared to wait!

2. Pipsticks Stickers

The ads of Instagram and Google searching led me to the cutest sticker company ever. Their tremendous selection of all types of puffy stickers, planner sets, pens, and so forth grabbed my attention from the get go!

The biggest haul of stickers that I ever purchased was in January of 2021, when Pipsticks had a sale for "Sticker Day"! Purchases included a mystery goodie bag and a sale code for their items. Once again, I was bamboozled into the deal. I ended up getting a century's worth haul of stickers for my bullet journal and pen pal hobbies.

What I Purchased:

Confirmation of order!
I know....don't judge me...

To save myself the full embarrassment of reflecting on my bank statements, I didn't provide the full list of stickers purchased. Originally priced at $200, I got my grand total down to $100 worth. This massive haul included all sorts of stickers, pens, washi tape, and some mini additions to my note taking supplies.

Do I regret it? Not necessarily! The price may have been hefty, but I use these on the daily. They have been a lovely addition to my writing and add some vibrant touches to the pages. If you are looking for some cute stickers or want to check out their $15 monthly subscription service, I recommend giving Pipsticks a shot!

3. Sketch Box

The coolest recommendation of all.....SKETCHBOX!!!!

I was so excited to try this after I got this ad on my Instagram feed. When I get some extended time to myself, I love experimenting with painting and drawing. Seeing what this box had to offer, I couldn't turn it down.

For this subscription, Sketchbox sends you monthly premium artist supplies according to a certain theme. You can get ink, pens, pencils, markers, and other necessary materials to test out. Within this box, art is included from a featured artist to give you a jumpstart into your own creative flow.

Sketch time!

What you get:

You get to choose the subscription type, basic or premium. The categories for these boxes will differ in the amount of art supplies you are given to work with. Overall, the subscription length varies. When you get to view your options, you can either have a pre-paid set of boxes or the usual monthly subscription.

What I purchased:

Being an artist, I love to try new tools that could suit my art style. This box seems like a great way to do just that! Because I purchased my subscription in early March, I will be receiving the April premium box in the next few weeks!

Lastly, my favorite art nook nestled into the website includes some amazing art from others who have used the box!
