Chicago isn't THAT Windy
Yes, there have been many moments where my hat has flown off in an unexpected wind gust while I walked around the loop. The "Windy City" name does have its literal moments, as wind coming from the shores of Lake Michigan can be pretty intense! Those pop-up wind tunnels between the buildings really get you when you think a side street looks safe (definitely not speaking from experience here).

Washi Tape & Laundry Wounds
What I miss the most about pre-COVID time is being able to linger around the block and not swerve hesitantly from a person coming my way. Fearing transmission, I have to keep to myself or else I could risk my own health. The past normality in seeing a buzzing city life ended on some Friday in March of 2020. Currently, I feel like I am on day 149473923 of that same month of March.

Dust Bunnies
I have romanticized, many times, what my life would be like if I were not mentally ill and glued to my OCD rituals for some sense of organization. Every time a friend comes over, they are baffled by my split emotional states. I could be feeling completely down in the dumps, yet trudge on with the usual schedule.

Dropsy in Goldfish: Becoming a Fish Doctor at 3 am
Nestled into bed late at night, I tend to get heavily distracted by my "Watch Later" list on YouTube. Unaware of any time passing, my eyes sink into the void of the notorious 3 am dimension. By far, my favorite videos to look at are related to animals and organisms of all kinds.

Productivity is a Myth
Do you ever look at the peppy vlogs of influencers and wonder how they manage to smile that wide at 8 am? More times than not, this is in conjunction with a surreal spread of delicious breakfast laid out on the table. A quick workout is already completed. Not to mention, the house looks pristine and the visible stress level is non-existent.

Sleep Paralysis in Mexican Culture
One morning, I woke up in a panic. Racing to the kitchen, I fearfully exclaimed to my abuela, "se me subió el muerto." Once I had her attention, I began to retell all of the sensations and strange feelings that overcame me during my sleep the night before.

My OCD & Accidental Organization
At age 14, I was diagnosed with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). Being a child, hearing this news gave me incredible embarrassment. I knew that others my age didn't care about catching germs, enforcing tapping rituals, or cultivating those intrusive thoughts the way I did. All of my rituals, ticks, and "strange" mannerisms consumed my daily schedule.

Suffering from Depression? Grab a Magnet!
My depression symptoms first started in early high school. I wasnt exactly sure why or how it even began. One day it went from being a sublte nudge in my brain, to the undeniable elephant in the room. Depression made itself comfy and effortlessly crept into every facet of my health. It was familiar, dragging on through the nights, and leaving me extremely fatigued.
