Constant Consistant Continual Confirmations and Coincidences
In 1995, as my family was headed to a Wednesday night church service, my nine-year-old daughter decided to take her stuffed Lion King toy. A guest speaker was in the pulpit and during her message, she spoke about Mufasa from the movie The Lion King. My little girl squeezed her toy and smiled with glee.

Panic Attacks Are a Life Sentence
Panic Attacks are disturbing As a child growing up, I knew I was different from everyone else. The sights and smells of certain foods made me ill, and I had a finicky appetite. If I smelled something that disagreed with me it would feel as if my breath were being cut off. At other times I would be eating, and it would feel as if I was unable to swallow. I broke out in cold sweats and was very nervous in crowds.

Don't Say You Want Out of Your Marriage Unless You Are Willing to Leave
There is something that women do in relationships that can be very annoying. When they are having problems with their spouse, they will tell someone close to them that this is it, and they are leaving or are going to put their husband out. The next thing you know, everything is just fine and they are saying how good the relationship is. Time passes; and when something goes wrong, such as the husband staying out all night, falling off the wagon, or cheating again, the wife is ready to end the marriage once more.

Married Women Should Not Listen to Single Friends
Changing values Younger women today have different views on relationships, love and marriage than older generations. Even so, I share my story in the hopes that it will help someone who really wants to save their marriage. In my opinion, the one thing that wives should be careful of is seeking advise on their marriage from single friends. Keep your friendships separate from what goes on in the privacy of your home, and you will cut down on a lot of drama.

Organized Religion Can Cause Trauma
I grew up attending a small Baptist church that was the center of the African American community. The focus was on pleasing Jesus and having a personal relationship with Him. I cannot recall anything bad about my young experience but when I got older, things changed. I attended several churches where the focus was on making the pastor happy and obtaining a certain lifestyle. In these churches, people were often told they needed to smile, dress better, hold their heads up and improve their countenance. Instead of spiritual growth, it became about how much money you could give, where you lived and the vehicle you drove.

The Library Is Not What It Used to Be
There was a time when library shelves were filled with old dusty books. The librarian was an older person, usually a woman who was modestly dressed. If you spoke too loudly she would put a finger to her mouth and tell you "Shhh." I cannot ever remember in my 61 years ever hearing kids shouting and running through a library, that is until now. Libraries today are vastly different than what they used to be. Instead of rows and rows of books on shelves, most libraries today are filled with video games, CDs, video game systems, and DVDs. Unsupervised children run around shouting, play fighting, and having outdoor games such as hide and seek and tag indoors.

Sparkle and Shine as an Older Couple
There are changes as we age that no one can warn us of, but they must be experienced. No two couples will experience the same thing, so each spouse must learn to adjust to their unique situation. My husband and I went through a period where unexpected expenses, and helping with the grandchildren, led to us not being able to maintain our vehicles. It was difficult, and we did not like this situation, but we found ways to make the best of it. We walked to the park, and the neighborhood store, with the grandchildren. We took them on rides on the city bus, and they really enjoyed it.
