Finally Putting Me First
For years and years, I had a tendency to put other people first before taking care of myself. I always put their needs before mine and somehow I ended up taking in all of their problems and in the process not taking care of myself. I carried on this way for the better part of half a decade. I always made sure everyone was okay before I took care of my problems and sometimes bills that really needed to be paid. I took on people's emotional problems because I figured that if I took them on it would ease their burdens. In the end, that ended up wrecking my emotional meter and I just ended up somehow hurting myself in the process.

Full Day of Eating
Hello, my little lovelies! So I wanted to post a full day of eating for today because I wanted to keep track of what I put into my body and the routine I have so far has helped me shed a couple of pounds in the last few days and I wasn't hungry at the end of the day. It's always been a struggle for me to eat healthy and not feel like I am starving at the end of the day but this time I think I have it down.

Marriage Is No Picnic
Marriage itself is hard, but when you are married to someone in the military, it just makes it twice as hard because of the deployments—or if you live separately due to conflict, money, or whatever reason you have. I've been with my husband for six years, married for one. When I tell you that this past year has been no picnic for either of us, I am not joking one bit. I am writing this because I don't believe in sugar coating or giving something another name. I have always been blunt and direct, even though it has gotten me into trouble multiple times. A lot of people don't understand the struggle that my husband and I go through, and lot of people don't understand because they aren't living our life with the heartaches and headaches that it has brought. So this post is going to be pretty candid and if you can't handle direct or truth, this is not the story for you.

Buffalo Chicken Pasta
Hello, my little lovelies! So one of my favorite kitchen appliances is my slow cooker and my crock pot. It has been a god send when I know I don't want to cook the next day or if I want to do an easy and fast meal prep on meal prep day. Since I started meal prepping I have used my crock pot multiple times, and the recipe I'm presenting is actually my husband's recipe that he made before he enlisted in the Navy. So I'm going to provide you with an easy recipe that you can just throw into the crock pot and have dinner ready shortly after you get home. This recipe is simple and anyone can do it.

Weight Loss: Current Goals
Hello my little lovelies! So as you guys know since June I have been seriously trying to be healthier in terms of diet and exercise. It hasn't exactly been a smooth ride but I can at least say that I have been trying and am continuing to try. So I have set some weight loss goals for myself every time I get to a certain weight, hoping that it will be a good incentive to keep going and keep trying.

Turkey Spaghetti
Hello my little lovelies! So this recipe I have is a recipe that I developed back when I was in college when I started to really cook. Now a few things have changed since then since I started changing my eating habits. This is a favorite of my husband's and is something I will probably be cooking the next time he is home. Now I don't fix any garlic bread with this simply because there is already a lot of carbs in it with the pasta. You can use whatever type of pasta you would like for this recipe, I just used penne pasta because that was all I had in my pantry. Fettuccine works great with this recipe as well as does regular spaghetti but again the choice is yours.

Lime Chicken
Hello my little lovelies! So for this lovely Friday posting, I’m going to give you guys my recipe for lime chicken! It’s a simple recipe that is easy to do and you can cook this in multiple ways. The ingredients themselves aren’t very expensive so this is a pretty cheap meal. And you don’t need a lot of seasonings in this either since the lime will be doing most of the flavoring. For this you can put it with any side dish you want, I like to put it with rice and roasted red peppers. I’ll also include the different ways you can cook this recipe. Also depending on how much chicken you are making you can adjust the amounts needed for the recipe, this worked great for eight regular sized chicken tenderloins which is approximately a pound and a quarter according to the package I got so just adjust the ingredients based on the amount of chicken.

Creamy Tomato Pasta with Steak
Hello my little lovelies! So today I have a simple recipe for you that you can essentially make into anything you like. I've been using this recipe years but I've tweaked it a little bit to make it slightly healthier since I'm trying to eat healthier. I normally add 1/4 cup of heavy cream to make it richer and creamier but for this recipe I used coconut milk. The tomato is so strong you don't even taste the coconut and it is absolutely delicious! Now for this I put in black beans and corn but you don't have to I just like the combo a lot. I also put steak in this for protein but you can add whatever protein source you want. If you're vegan you can just make the sauce itself and just put in the pasta. Meat or no meat this sauce is delicious! This dish can also handle some heat so if you want to spice it up, add some red pepper flakes to the sauce to finish it or add chili pepper when you cook the onions and garlic. Now with the coconut milk in the sauce it should even out the acidity of the tomato sauce but if you like a sweet sauce, add in a couple tablespoons of sugar. I used to do that but I've cut a lot of sugar out of my diet.

Healthy Chicken Fried Rice
Hello my little lovelies! So I know I've been lagging a little bit but I promise you posts are coming. As soon as I get into a routine with work and the gym I'll be much better at it, I promise. Things have been a little hectic with work, then trying to fit in the gym and trying to develop a routine so that I'm not constantly crying my eyes out because my husband isn't here to calm me down if I've had a bad day. So with that being said, I'll be posting from now on Mondays and Fridays, still have to establish a time and make sure it coincides with my break at work so I can be consistent with posting times. So just hang on tight!

I Failed
Hello my little lovelies! So I wanted to make this post because I realized I never really talk or write about what happens when my cravings override my willpower and it's not your cheat day. It's not often but it does happen. I feel like if I'm going to share my journey to being healthy and fit with you guys I have to be honest with my struggles too. I don't want to post about just the successes because I don't want people who are also trying to be healthy think that it's going to be a piece of cake. It's honestly not a piece of cake.
