Being Human. Top Story - March 2024.
Wandering this world, we brashly claim ownership. We give and take, create and destroy, harmonize and clash, carving our names into history's flesh. Poking and prodding, we pry at the very fabric of our existence in our thirst for knowledge - as we reach for new worlds among the stars.

Becoming I. Runner-Up in Whispering Woods Challenge. Top Story - March 2024.
As dawn breaks night's terror with a sure and steady hand, the harbinger's scream has faded to an echo of memory. In its wake, nothing but a buzzy chirp and coo of conversation scores the canopy of my trees. The day rolling in is gentle, the air calm and cooling, with skies a soothing powdered blue. Dew glistens in dapples along my mossy pathways, coaxing the rising sun's warmth into the last of night's shadows where blood, splashed from kills onto the loin of my trees, remains wet.

Worrying Over You. Top Story - March 2024.
There were times that Lucian really wanted to smack his husband upside the head. Now was one of those times. Since Lucian had gotten pregnant over a month ago, a process that halted his transition for the next nine months, his husband had been overdoing things. Mostly household chores. Taking him to every single appointment, which was lovely but he can still drive himself.

The Decrepit Copse. Top Story - March 2024.
Zilch wandered down from the mountain after discovering an indescribable treasure at its peak. An old juggler dared him to climb the mountain, but first gifted him a magic cap. Zilch felt silly wearing it—it was a jester’s hat, after all!—but it bestowed physical strength, endurance, and a level of awareness that helped him avoid and overcome the dangers of the mountain paths.

Metagoth. Top Story - March 2024. Content Warning.
This is the opening chapter of my outrageous splatterpunk novelette METAGOTH, now available from Godless and Amazon. Rosa pinioned her hands against the cubicle as her bowels jetted a red-brown soup into the porcelain. Her stage fright always started in the gut, though Rosa would never have admitted that's what it was. And it never got easier. The tension of stepping out in front of a crowd of unimpressed, unenthusiastic punters caused her gastric contortions she was unable to contain. Fortunately, the smell of some agoraphobic chemist's notion of a pine forest covered up her own colonic aromas.

Stormgrove. Top Story - March 2024.
Before. Before your ignorance we stood tall. Before. Before you, we were the amused. The horned beetles slowly multiplying, speckled resting doe, the golden autumn Cantharellus, the wild swine lumbering toward the ponds edge, all so enchanting. Before you. The swaggering moose, drunk from fermented apples found respite here, with owl, wolf, fox, hare, even the very smallest cells of life found refuge in our bows. Yet you pushed on. Our youngest branches, our eldest and wise were stolen from our families, broken, savagely contorted into what you wanted; was it needed? A shelter from the storm we gave you; the sky dark, yet brilliant with constellations that brought us joy, threatened you. How? Our children were your protection from the winds off the sea, the frigid, unforgiving cold; yet we believed. We believed because all who face decimation must. We are ringed in our matter, our full restitution embedded. We did not erase our homecoming! We mourned our trust lost, or could it be, we saw you as one, in the natural order of existence and you failed to hear us?

Turkish Delight. Top Story - March 2024.
Firstly, shout out to my girlfriend Hannah for pointing out that the pun-based title of this blog was definitely going to be “Turkish Delight,” thus giving me the idea for a brilliant pun-based title for this blog. Couldn’t have come up with one better myself.
