Things to Do in January
Cara stared out the window as her coffee machine spluttered its vital produce into a large yellow mug. She watched the New Years Resolutions jog past, pale and determined. Whatever else was going wrong in her life, at least she had managed to resist the urge to practice self-love through punitive torture until January 17 and the inevitable collapse onto the sofa, alone, with a sharing bag of chocolate.

The Off Switch
The outside world was unknown to her, but she could see a glimpse of it through the window in his room. Kedi occasionally stared half-heartedly out of it, but nothing ever changed: a flat, wide, green path spread out before her, hemmed on either side by squat, square buildings that she supposed resembled her own. People were rarely to be seen, which is to say that she had seen one, once, so she could no longer say never. If the staff of the compound needed to move around, they used the tunnels - apparently. Kedi never needed to move around.

The Best Bollywood Dance Workout Channels
It's New Year and I know I'm not the only one whose waistband is protesting. Getting back into a workout routine after the holidays can be tough. I've been on a lifelong mission to find an exercise that doesn't bore me to tears and require a day's worth of willpower to get through.

Rotten Cotton: Forced Labour in Turkmenistan
What's your t-shirt made of? Or, let's get real (it is January), what is your hoodie-and-sweatpants combo made of? The chance are that the clothes you're wearing are at least partly cotton. It's a fabric that human beings have been using for over 6000 years, with a host of benefits - it's easy to wash, absorbent and breathable.

The Unsilent Ring
The diamond ring sang out from the window display. Nestled in a black velvet tray, it conjured images of Alnilam, shining the brightest in Orion’s belt. Elizabeth’s hands pressed themselves against the chilled glass. The ring was audible, if she strained just right; a whirring, humming murmur, just on the edge of hearing. Her feet walked themselves towards the battered door.
