Oneirodynia. Top Story - June 2024. Content Warning.
âAnd youâve had the same nightmare for eight years now?!â âNo, not really. The theme of my nightmares had always been the same, but the gruesomeness of it increased over the years,â explained Haydari. âOkay, spill everything! I canât believe that youâve never told me about this!â Calista was incredulous. Haydari dreaded this moment. She had never confided in her best friend, let alone anyone, or even sought professional help because she didnât even know how to talk about something like this. Her nightmares had gotten so bad over the years, which caused her to lose a lot of sleep. Her chronic lack of sleep had rendered her incompetent at work, and she got fired today. She called Calista up and went straight to her house to vent. âI know, I know, and Iâm sorry for keeping it from you. Okay, Iâll spill, but heads up, you might find these nightmares gross and very disturbing,â warned Haydari. âThere is nothing that I would judge you for, especially for something that you have no control of.â Haydari sighed and shrugged, âOh well, if you say so. The first of these nightmares that I can remember vividly was of me eating an ice cream at the mall, and I saw the lifeguard drowning. Donât ask me how he was drowning at the mall, but he was and I wanted to help him.â âOkay, go on,â Calista prompted as she saw the hesitation in Haydariâs eyes. âYou were there and I told you to hold my ice cream, but you refused because you claimed that the ice cream was made with breast milk and you didnât wanna touch it.â âSorry, but what milk?â âBreast milk. You know, like the milk from the breast of a woman.â âI know what breast milk is!â Calista was repulsed by this revelation, but she didnât show it, âSo what happened after that?â âI turned to look at the ice cream man from whom I bought the ice cream. There were so many women squirting their milk into jugs and handing them to him. He would hit them hard if they slowed down.

Broken Glass. Top Story - June 2024.
Of all the students Mr. Benedick expected to see in his office, he did not expect the boy who was sitting there. What grade was this one, he thought? He walked over to his desk, looked at the folder Ms. Diner had left out for him, and opened it. There was a photo inside of it, taken from last yearâs picture day. Not much growth; not too different. The boy sitting in front of him had nothing strange or unusual in his file, if a childâs life defined by having ânothing disruptive or regretfulâ in it could be called fine. Mr. Benedick also realized that âlifeâ was an anagram of âfile,â and wondered where that thought came from as he stared at the boy in front of him. Benny Duncan. Grade Four. Beloved by all his teachers so far. He had seen the boy playing with the other boys his age in the school yard at recess. Four Square and foot hockey. A normal-looking kid. A normal kid⊠And here he was, after a very stupid moment with the fire alarm and a shoe.

An Adventure Through Hell. Top Story - June 2024.
Emaciated arms covered by the tiniest bit of flesh capture me, holding me close to its decaying form. Gnarled and thin fingers pull my dark hair. Screams of anguish surround me, somehow reverberating from the empty chasm. I punch and watch as bits of grey flesh disintegrate into dust. Scratching at the caverns where its eyes should have been, I could only hope for an end to this hell. The sounds of torment continued, assaulting my ears with one tremendous roar.

Twisting Through the Doorways. Top Story - June 2024.
A grand bronze-coloured staircase leads nowhere. It is adorned in dim and sensual lights, the golden glimmer of the chandelier adding elegance and richness to the room. This is the biggest room in the unknown home. A house made of multi-sized doors leading to multi-dimensional rooms. Some exist in daylight, some exist sideways against child-like postered walls.
