The Importance of Being Creative

Humanity is something we sometimes lose sight of. We forget who we are and what we were created to be. We forget our ideas have meaning and impact in this world we call home.

What is it to be human? What is humanity? Is it important that we find our humanity and live it out? What does that look like?

We all wrestle with what it means to be human. We all have our own opinions and we have our truths. Making life as we wish it to be will bring us true happiness. We lie to ourselves when we have this outlook on life when we remove the very meaning of what it means to be human. We make it all pointless.

Truth is a fundamental part of how we go about life. Without it, there isn't any clear standard for the good things and the bad things. Who sets the standards? Should there even be standards on what is good or bad or should we just leave it up to each individual to decide what is good or bad for them?

I think people who have a creative way of thinking struggle the most with this. We want the world to work how it does in our imagination. We don't want to conform to another way of life. We like making the rules and we don't want to follow someone else's set of rules. We don't care about the facts we run off our emotions and if it makes us feel bad then it must be bad.

The dangers of this way of living are large. We must be careful with what we believe and the way we do things. We must take other people's points of view into account when making decisions.

If there isn't a standard for truth bigger than us then hurting people is going to just be how life is. We can't live our truth without stepping on or hurting someone else's truth because no two humans are the same. We all defer from one another at least a little. This will cause more division amongst each other than unity. We try to create unity by accepting everyone's ideas as truth but this is not a sustainable way of life.

It may be creative but is it effective? Are you saying to give up creativity and live a life in submission to someone else? The answer is yes and no. Yes, we should live a life in submission but not in the way you think. We can find freedom by submitting to our creator. But that's a whole other topic that I could write about. Today I want to talk about why we shouldn't give up creativity just because we've submitted to our creator.

We were made to be creative.

Let me repeat that so it really sinks in. We were made to be creative. Music, drawing, artwork, painting, writing, building, and creating is one of the many things we are gifted with in this life. Imagine how dull this life would be without creative people. Even things like skyscrapers and buildings took much creativity to think of how to build them without them falling over. Everything in this life has been touched by creativity. The music you listen to and the books you read were all made by someone and their thoughts and imagination.

So no, creativity is not a bad thing and no we should never give it up. However, we do need to be careful how we use it. We should never use creativity to hurt others and put them down. We are all created equally yet different. So we shouldn't hurt others because of our differences. Create change that stands firm on truth. Not our truth but the truth.

Today go out and make the world a better place with your gifts. That's my encouragement for you today.

Wow! That’s some deep stuff there! Good to know that someone still cares about being human and having decent standards with all the barbarism that’s going on these days! Honestly, I think people have an inner urge somewhere to be good and have dignity but in practicality, it is easier to shut down on that and just do what our dark desires beseech of us! Thank you for fighting for the good of humanity and for sharing your work!!
