Kidneys play a crucial role in maintaining overall health, and it's important to be aware of the factors that can contribute to kidney damage. Here's a summary of the eight everyday habits that can negatively impact kidney health:

Getting too little sleep: Poor sleep can disrupt the kidneys' natural cycle and lead to kidney damage over time so please be mindful of your sleep schedule.

Eating too much salt: High salt intake can raise blood pressure and strain the kidneys, potentially leading to kidney stones and kidney failure. Consider the salt in food you prepare, order, and add after preparing.

Not drinking enough water: Proper hydration is essential for kidney function, and insufficient water intake can increase the risk of kidney infections and chronic kidney disease.

Smoking cigarettes: Smoking narrows blood vessels and reduces blood flow to the kidneys, increasing the risk of kidney cancer and impairing kidney function.

Drinking too much alcohol: Excessive alcohol consumption can lead to dehydration and kidney damage, along with other health issues that can harm the kidneys. Keep track of how many drinks you ACTUALLY had.

Taking too many painkillers: Over-the-counter painkillers, when used excessively, can negatively affect kidney function and cause inflammation and bleeding in the kidneys.

Not getting enough exercise: Leading a sedentary lifestyle increases the risk of kidney diseases, and regular exercise can help improve kidney function and regulate blood pressure. Incorporating daily routines like parking further away at stores and work so that your walk is longer, taking the stairs instead of elevators, walking to places close instead of driving are small ways to add exercise to your daily routine.

Ignoring signs of kidney problems: It's essential to pay attention to symptoms like changes in urine, swelling, fatigue, nausea, itching, back pain, and high blood pressure, as they may indicate kidney issues that require medical attention. If you believe that you are a victim of kidney damage please consult your physician as soon as possible.

By being mindful of these habits and making positive changes in lifestyle, individuals can protect their kidney health and overall well-being. Early detection and appropriate medical care are vital for preventing further kidney damage and ensuring optimal kidney function. Health is wealth.

During the everyday hustle and bustle of life we can forget to think of our health. Always remember that your body may not show signs immediately but the damage is still being done. An unhealthy lifestyle can lead to major health risk. Being mindful of these risk can help to psychologically trigger new healthier routine as well as help to make the journey of breaking bad ones easier.

Replacing your daily soda or evening sip of alcohol with a glass of water can be challenging but if your daily habits consist of multiple previously mentioned risk factors then the tradeoff may be worth it. Our kidneys are an essential part of our everyday lives but can easily be overlooked. Being more attentive to your body and any bodily changes that may occur is not only beneficial to your kidneys but to your overall body and general health.

Schedule annual health checkups for you and the entire family when possible. Seeing a doctor regularly can help increase the degree of your health and decrease the chances of something minor becoming something major. Which is also why you should disclose as much information about your health, daily environments, job, lifestyle and any habits you may have at the time of the visit. This information allows your doctor to not only know you better but factor in specific information unique to your individual needs when assessing your health.

Eat healthy and prosper.
