Magic items in Dungeons and Dragons are meant as magical rewards for adventuring and exploring your campaign. Every D&D campaign is full of great loot placed by your DM, but if you ever have a pile of gold burning a hole in your pocket and are looking for somewhere to put it all, here are some suggestions!

Whether you are a player looking for the best items for your character, or a DM who is looking to tailor the loot in your campaign to the classes your party is playing, here is the perfect list for magical items for Druids in Dungeons and Dragons 5e that every Druid is gonna want to attune to!

Staff of the Woodlands

Starting off at the top of this list, any list about druid magic items would be remiss to not mention the Staff of the Woodlands, it’s basically the all around Druid (Ratagast) Magic Item. A big staff that does nature stuff?! What’s not to like. First off, for a rare item it can do an insane amount of stuff... like a truly ridiculous amount of stuff. This staff has 10 charges, restores 1d6+4 per long rest and can cast Animal Friendship, Awaken, Barkskin, Locate Animals or Plants, Speak with Animals, Speak with Plants and Wall of Thorns. It can also cast Pass without Trace without even using any charges. Now if all of that doesn’t convince you this is pretty worthwhile, it’s a +2 weapon (which is already rare by itself) and if that STILL doesn’t convince you, you can use the gosh darn thing to just straight up turn yourself into a tree! I mean, come on, what’s not to love boys and girls?

Bag of Tricks

This magic item has been around since the early days of D&D, and ever since I found out about it, it has been one of my favorite items of all time. These bags come in a few different colors, with each color containing their own menagerie of fluffy (or sometimes not so fluffy) animals. Reach into the bag, grab a fluffy ball and huck it and a random animal just shows up...what a whack item. The benefit here is that you’re a druid, you can cast Speak with Animals, maybe use Animal Messenger or even Beast Sense to make this guy your friend and have it fight with you, or scout for you, or any other smattering of possibilities as far as your imagination reaches. So get yourself one of these pronto, and if you can’t afford it you can always get the much worse version coming next....

Hat of Vermin

This little Common Item found in Xanathars is just about useless, as are most of the Common Items found in Xanathars. Reach into the hat and you can pull out a bat or a rat or a spider that is under no obligation to do anything you want it to do and might just fly away. But hey, here comes the fun part again, you’re a stinking druid!!! Just make it do what you want! If your DM is using RAW pricing rules and you can buy about 5 of these things for the price of a horse...I mean it could? Maybe? Be useful. I don’t know, try it out and let me know!

Insignia of Claws:

This little guy is from Hoard of the Dragon Queen, it makes your unarmed strikes +1 and considered magical. So it’s like a +1 weapon for your fists...or in your case claws, beak, talons, tentacles, tail, or whatever other strange appendages you’re planning on growing in Wild Shape. Not much else to say, but this one is handy dandy.

Dragon Scale Mail:

Not the most nifty magic item out there, this one is basically a handy way of gaining a little resistance while also bypassing the Druid’s unfortunate inability to wear metal armor. Not metal if it’s made of dead dragons....oh wait nevermind that’s like Super Metal!!!! Jokes aside, it is handy to have the ability to pump up your druid’s armor class.

Staff of Healing

Same reason this thing is handy for the Cleric, it’s also handy for you. It’s got a small range of healing spells and it’ll make sure you’re saving your own spell slots for when you really need them. Not that every Druid is a healer, but if you are, this item is for sure for you. If the cleric even tries to touch it, you turn into a freaking whale and slap him with your tail, you don’t need his flak.

Necklace of Prayer Beads

Does this sound a little too Cleric and Paladin like for you...that’s probably because those are the only other two classes who are even allowed to use this thing. This powerful little item is full of beads with randomly determined spells rolled up by your DM. All of them are pretty cool little divine magic spells like Cure Wounds or Branding Smite, all of them are handy, and it once again is going to be increasing the number of spells per day you are capable of casting, which is always a good thing.
