Magic items in Dungeons and Dragons are meant as magical rewards for adventuring and exploring your campaign. Every D&D campaign is full of great loot placed by your DM, but if you ever have a pile of gold burning a whole in your pocket and are looking for somewhere to put it all, here are some suggestions!

Whether you are a player looking for the best items for your character, or a DM who is looking to tailor the loot in your campaign to the classes your party is playing, here is the perfect list for magical items for Warlocks in Dungeons and Dragons 5e that every warlock is gonna want to attune to!

Winged Boots:

Warlocks don’t get too many opportunities to expedite their movement and increase their general agility in D&D. As a warlock, except in the case of Hexblades, it is more than likely that you are going to spend the vast majority of your time in the backline, and as such, opponents that have faster movement and are strikers are going to be an issue. Flying boots not only are helpful for an extraordinary number of out of combat options, but they also help you keep out of the reach of melee foes that do large amounts of damage. While this might not always work against those with reach, or in tight dungeons, being able to fly up and command a good eye over the battlefield for pinpoint accuracy on your Eldritch Blasts really is going to be beneficial for you in the long run.

Pearl of Power:

Amongst the downsides that Warlocks face is the limited number of spell slots that they employ. A Pearl of Power, or a Ring of Spell Storing if you can get your hands on it, is an excellent way to level the playing field and give your character that added boost in utility that you might not alway have. While a Warlock always cast spells at their highest level, even gaining the extra third level spell slot from the Pearl of Power is extremely useful to you, and can keep you going longer.

Spell Gem:

These helpful little items are very similar to the Pearl of Power in that they let you use them to cast a spell, though what level of spell varies depending on the gem with varying levels of power. These gems can be used again and again, similarly in a fashion to a mixture of scrolls and Pearls of Power, by storing new spells in the gem when you have expended the old one. They rank all the way to 9th level, depending on if your DM will let you have them of course. Due to the fact that these gems ridiculously do not require attunement, your warlock can simply spend short rests filling as many gems as they have up with spells, and have more spells than you will ever need.

Wand of the War Mage +1/2/3

The Wand of the War Mage is an all around good item, giving its user +1 to attack rolls and allowing them to ignore 1/2 cover with their spell attacks. The bonus to attack rolls goes up with the rarity of the wand, making them perfect for warlocks especially, many of whom’s offensive spells focus on attack rolls rather than saving throws.

Rod of the Pactkeeper +1/2/3

The Rod of the Pactkeeper also gives you a +1 to spell attack rolls, BUT, it also gives +1 to spell save DC, these numbers both increase with the rarity of the Rod. In addition to this, the rod allows the Warlock to regain one Warlock spell slot per long rest, which is obviously useful for the same reasons as I have described below. However, there is a more important part to this magic item. While Sage Advice and Wizards of the Coast have said that in 5e a creature can not benefit from multiple bonuses from effects of the same name (IE you can’t wield two Rods of the Pactkeeper), nothing is stopping you from wielding one of these and one wand of the war mage in your off hand. In other words you can dual wield rods/wands and get up to a +6 to your attack rolls. In other other words, your Eldritch Blast is never ever going to miss again. Check with your DM before pulling such shenanigans as they are kind of bad form.

Staff of Power:

This is the holy grail for most casters, this big staff is full of spells like Cone of Cold (5 charges), Fireball (5th-level version, 5 charges), Globe of Invulnerability (6 charges), Hold Monster (5 charges), Levitate (2 charges). Lightning Bolt (5th-level version, 5 charges), Magic Missile (1 charge), Ray of Enfeeblement (1 charge), or Wall of Force (5 charges). The Staff holds 20 charges total, so it can really pack a punch when you want it to. In addition it regains a truly ridiculous number of charges each morning, so you don’t even have to try to save these. There’s a good reason this staff is Very Rare, but it probably should be Legendary, just don’t tell your DM that.

Illusionist’s Bracers

Now I’m not saying that whoever made Eberron is some kind of crazed magic item lunatic...but they are. However, their saving grace is that they did make this item Very Rare. The Illusionist’s Bracers allow a Warlock to cast a Cantrip twice in one turn, using a bonus action to cast the same Cantrip they cast as their action a second time. If somehow you convince your DM to let you get this early on, you’re gonna be crazy cool! Everyone knows Warlocks are hyped up on Eldritch Blast, well now you can cast twice as many of them. Pair this with the Agonizing Blast Invocation and your Wand of the War Mage and Rod of the Pactkeeper and at high levels you could be shooting 8 Eldritch Blasts with a +17 to hit...and you’re not even using any of your spell slots.
