Ashley TerrellPublished 6 years ago in FeastWhy You Should Try Slow Foods Kitchen
With the large influx of health-conscious individuals across the globe companies have begun creating eco-friendly alternatives of their best-selling products. This can be seen in grocery stores, restaurants, department stores, and even in the automotive industry. Today though we are going to focus on food and more specifically one of my favorite brands, Slow Foods Kitchen. This company was founded in the small town of Palmetto, Florida and run by mother-daughter duo Felicia and Amanda. These two have worked hard to create delicious and nutritious snacks for people who give a ---- about what they are putting into their bodies.
Audrey O'DonnellPublished 6 years ago in FeastVegan Puerto Rican Pastelillos Recipe
When it came to making pastelillos as a kid, I was always on dough duty. Covered in flour and gaining muscle mass by the minute, I rolled out what must be thousands of discos over the course of my lifetime. I loved every minute of it though. The process of making pastelillos was a fun bonding time in the kitchen for whoever was involved. I love when food brings people together and this vegan version allows me to continue doing so.
The Bronx VeganPublished 6 years ago in FeastThe Bronx Veganism
It's been one year since I became vegan. For a while now, I've been ruminating on what kind of veganism I strive to represent. In a lot of ways, mainstream veganism fails to represent the reality of what this lifestyle looks like for people who live in the Bronx and other communities like it. It is for that reason that I’ve created a structure for my activism, which focuses largely on the consumption aspect of veganism. While food isn’t the only part of veganism, it is a very important element. I hope this outline creates an opportunity for more people like me to take up space in this culture and thrive in it.

The Bronx VeganPublished 6 years ago in FeastMy Top 6 Gluten-Free Vegan Biscuits
If you're like me, biscuits are life. Being British, you are basically raised on biscuits as a kid. So it can be pretty rubbish moving to a gluten-free, vegan lifestyle. Well that was three years ago; there are so many to choose from now!
Becki Friendly FoodPublished 6 years ago in FeastThe Bronx Vegan Eats: Vegan Pho + Banh Mi
There are times when eating vegan food leaves me feeling like I truly put something good in my body. It’s almost as if my mind, body, and soul is refreshed. That’s the kind of feeling I had when trying pho for the first time. It’s warmth travels through your body, healing you along the way. The decadent smell is invigorating with a taste that matches. Pho takes hours to create, and luckily you can get a filling, delicious bowl of vegan pho right in the Bronx.
The Bronx VeganPublished 6 years ago in FeastVegan Cookbooks by Vegans of Color
One of my biggest concerns when becoming vegan was losing out on the dishes from my culture. With time, I learned that veganizing my cultural meals are achievable. These vegan cookbooks feature authors representing different cultural backgrounds and cuisines, making it easy to enjoy veganism without losing your own cultural influence.
The Bronx VeganPublished 6 years ago in FeastSmoked Almond and Chickpea Sandwiches
This is my altered recipe out of my favorite cookbook, Thug Kitchen: Eat Like You Give a F*ck. Except I won't use quite as much harsh language if any at all. I've actually had to copy recipes out of this book before for my mom, who cries when she hears or sees cuss words, when she wanted to try a yummy vegan recipe.
Nolan JamesPublished 6 years ago in FeastThe Bronx Vegan Eats: Top Tortillas
Walking around the immediate area of the busy Buhre Avenue train station will show you more food options than you can handle. It’s amazing that this area isn’t designated a food hub of the Bronx! Of all the places to choose from, there’s one spot that I get a craving much too often. If you’re looking for some solid vegan spinach enchiladas in The Bronx, look no further than Top Tortillas.
The Bronx VeganPublished 6 years ago in FeastOde to the Amtrak Vegan Burger
I don’t know about you, but Amtrak is one of my favorite ways to travel. Whenever I get the opportunity to travel, it’s the number one service I go to first. I love watching my scenery change from the rush of New York City to the calm and serene of Upstate New York. Traveling long distance by train is most comfortable because of the comfy seating, free accessible bathrooms, and my most favorite feature: the food cart.
The Bronx VeganPublished 6 years ago in FeastTop 10 Vegan Chocolate Goodies
As a sweet loving person, Chocolate needs to be on hand for any "I don't want fruit" emergencies. Although I must admit, I'm actually not that much of a "let's eat a Chocolate bar" kind of person. Saying that, when I open the packet it does tend to disappear pretty quickly.
