Playlists
If playlists are the ultimate currency of coolness, we're your virtual treasury.
Current Mood
By now, I'm sure everybody knows what an emotional journey getting through work and school can be. Especially working from home and attending virtual classes. There is no longer such a thing as a "school" playlist or a "work" playlist; it depends on my mood. Whether I'm motivated, focused, energetic, sad, or (what usually happens) a strange combination of those I have playlists on standby. Seriously, I feel like Spotify is one new playlist away from sending me an email saying "You alright, love?" So, I've pared down 5 of those playlists for you to get your own mood-board-playlists started because you simply can never have enough.

Rockabilly Is In My Blood
I was born into a family of musicians. My dad played lead guitar for a rockabilly band in historic Lexington, Kentucky during the early 1970's and my mom's brothers played Bluegrass Music in a band in the scenic Appalachian foothills of eastern Kentucky. Both of my grandfathers were musicians along with all their brothers, sisters, and children.

Of course you know 'Lofi Hip Hop Radio to Relax/Study to'
Back when I was in university all-nighter studing or working on projects were tough but a requirement to get my grades. I prepared myself to endure the night with healthy treats and water to keep me going. But with all sorts of preparation, music was my go to for all-nighters. The key is to find the right kind of tracks to keep me fresh, motivated, and energetic though the nights. I will share a few of my tracks to help you though the nights as I experienced during university. Just as a fyi, even after my graducation I keep these tracks to help me going though my days.

Focus Your Mind, Body and Soul
I used to get laughed at for my music tastes because they were a lot like my grandfather’s. The great thing about it though was that every time I listened to one of my grandfather’s favourite songs, I would remember him. He died when I was about nine years’ old and I miss him every single day even as I near twenty-five. Whilst I was studying for my MA degree a few years back, I would listen to various songs that I felt could focus my mind and help me remember my grandparents - all of which are gone. The rockabilly age is possibly my favourite age of all time and with its repetitive and catchy beats, it can help you remember pretty much anything. Old jazz music and dark soul songs, American Folk Revival and Motown are just some of the genres of music that are on my playlist that I would use for studying. From the bottom of my heart, I thank you for even considering my playlist because I have been bullied so badly for my taste in music. It was never the next new Katy Perry song, even though I respect those who do like that music. Music is really up to you, but this one is up to me and so here we go. Here are five songs on my playlist to give you an overview of how I get focused. Hopefully, it helps you a bit too.

Big Brain Bangers. Third Place in Brain Power Playlist Challenge.
This year has been a weird one, to say the least. The world has been flipped upside down and we’re all getting used to this new way of life. Wearing masks, social distancing, and the constant use of hand sanitizer! But, this new way of life has also has a plus side: WFH! Working from home has become the new normal, and for most of us that’s pretty great.

Dive into Russian Culture: Russian Music
Why am I so interested in Russian music?! As I explained in previous blogs, I have been devoted to the Russian language and culture since I was 12 years old. My first ever Russian song I listened to and liked was the birthday song from Cheburashka and Krokodil Gena, which is a classic Russian cartoon from the 80's (before Russia became independent). After studying Russian and visiting multiple Russian stores all around the Bathurst Manor neighbourhood for the last 4 months in 2010, I surfed the net for some good Russian hits that I wanted to try listening to. It did not have to be popular music from the generation I was residing in. Back then, I had a penchant for music from the older generations such as the 40's, 50's and 60's. I was able to find older Russian music on YouTube and came across some interesting folk hits.

The Indefatigability Playlist
I think, generally, everyone loves music. It's our solace, our panacea, our getaway, and it can be a powerful well of strength to draw from. Music means a lot of things to a lot of people, and can be experienced in just as many ways. Some are eclectic listeners, right? They pluck and pick at all different kinds of genres without care to anything other than the sound and the feeling of it. Some are steadfast; traditional even, in their listening tastes that date back to what their parents listened to or the music of their region/country/etc. Others are quite particular about their tastes while others are less so. We all have different experiences with music and that is a fabulous truth.

bring on the songs.
When wanting to share with you all my favorite jams I started to think about all the music I listen to, and realized most of them are mashups or tik tok songs. When I say I am addicted to that app, I am way too addicted. But I have compiled a list of five of the most amazing songs for the week, cause my life changes moment by moment.... So be prepared for some songs next week as well, cause I am pretty sure I wanna do a weekly top 5 songs. I think it will be cool to see just how many different genres there are in my life, and to see how all the songs collide with eachother. You will see a very diverse group of songs. I literally can go from country, to classical, to rap, and to the 60's all in a span of ten minutes, and I have no shame in my game. I hope you enjoy these songs, and add them to your next banging playlist.
