Movie Review: 'Nope' Spoiler Free Review
A shoe stands on its end, the toe pointing into the air. It’s an evocative image, shoes don’t do that. But a shoe does do that in the new Jordan Peele horror thriller Nope. Come to think of it, the sight of a shoe in such an unnatural position is the kind of image that might cause one to say ‘Nope’ while slowly backing away from whatever might be the cause of this image. It’s not just a shoe though, there’s a well placed drop of blood on that shoe as well that offers another disturbing aspect to this sight. Then the context for the shoe comes fully into frame and…

Who Invented Scrabble?
The grid of perfectly scaled squares hinting of an underlying respect for structure, the meticulously planned numbering system, the lettered tiles, and even the wooden letter holder that resembles a sample of ceiling molding might be clues to the profession of the inventor of Scrabble. Alfred Mosher Butts, born in Poughkeepsie, New York in 1899, graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1924 with a degree in architecture and soon after joined the New York firm of Holden, McLaughlin & Associates. In 1931, however, suffering from the devastating economic effects of America's Great Depression, the architectural firm was forced to shut its doors, and Butts, like the majority of Americans, was laid off from his job.

Why Did I Care?
The 2022 UEFA Women’s EURO competition has set attendance and viewing records. It’s been accompanied by a commendable and long-needed rise in campaigning against misogyny and online abuse, including Not Her Problem and Her Game Too. These are fantastic strides in the right direction, and send an overwhelmingly positive message to future generations of players and fans, of any gender, that they are welcome participants in the world’s most popular sport. It’s wonderful to see how far we’ve come in respecting women as athletes. But this progress also serves as a stark reminder to me of my participation in a shameful culture of holding women back.

What Did You Do, Jake Sullivan?
The stone warehouse was vast and extended beyond sight in all directions like the halls of a desolate god without name. Smooth pylons, some twenty feet across, rose featureless and without seam into the darkness above where in the dim shadows he could just discern the whispers of limitless stone arches. They crisscrossed without order in an ancient latticework that he imagined carved with glyphs and dead languages lost to time and war. He walked in the grey shadowless light which emanated without source towards the only sound he could hear – a metronomic click-click, click-click which sounded from not far ahead. He’s had this dream before but it was different this time.

SUPER TACO
Customer service is a strange thing. you go somewhere, see someone working there, they seem happy or at least, like a normal person, and they greet you. Indie Music Madness: A Seven-Song Sweaty Heatwave Playlist
Well, here we are Philadelphia. Stuck in the middle of a sweaty heatwave. Just like my ass to this chair. Or, my glutes would be glued, that is, if I wasn't blasting my house's A.C. at max power. And didn't have two small desk fans on both sides of my computer aimed at my face. As well as an industrial-sized mega fan behind me blowing my back. And I wasn't wearing two frozen pea bags bandanaed around my face as if I had the mumps. I don't have the mumps.

Not a day goes by
Not a day goes by that I don't think about you. Not a day goes by that I wish you would have listened to me and taken that bus instead. Not a day goes by that I wish I was with you at the time of the crash. Not a day goes by that I don't mourn you. I miss your scent that perforated my nose. I miss your kisses upon my forehead. I miss the silly faces you would make when I was down. I miss you, and i still love you, and I always will. Life can be cruel, but death can be worse. Not a day goes by that I can't help but think what could have been.

Last Train to Section E
He struggled to push away the layers of overwhelming fatigue that made even opening his eyes an almost impossible task. Not fully conscious but he was aware enough to realize that this was not the result of a night of overindulging. No amount of beer or even whisky could ever create this kind of havoc. This had to be some sort of drug, and it was a lot more powerful than the weed he occasionally vaped. Slowly and painfully his brain shook off the effects and his eyes began to open.
