Our “Raise Your Voice Threads” are hosted every other Thursday at 12PM ET to offer creators more avenues to uncover exceptional stories on Vocal. As we are continuously searching for fresh creators and inspiring stories, this thread provides an opportunity to exchange and discuss the stories that have moved and motivated us on Vocal.

How to join the 📢 Raise Your Voice Thread:

  • Introduce yourself in the comment section of this story and tell us what you create on Vocal.
  • Shoutout a Vocal creator you recommend reading. Include the URL of a writer or story that inspired you and why.
  • If you like a story another person has recommended, send that story's creator a like, leave a comment, and/or subscribe to them.

Please follow Vocal’s Community Guidelines and don’t spam your own profile or stories in the thread. We encourage the community to report users or comments that break these guidelines.

Also, make sure you join our Vocal Community Chat every other Tuesday at 12PM ET to discuss insights and platform updates.

We'll start the thread:

Andrew Little's poem is both a somber reflection and a triumphant anthem of pride and heritage. Its rhythmic cadence and lyrical depth carefully acknowledge a painful past while honoring the legacy and influence of the Black community. We find it incredibly beautiful.

Now it's your turn. Share your favorite stories in the comments below.

I was lucky enough to get to know Rebecca Morton when she kindly took an interest in one of my posts, and many of you will have read her runner-up entry for Pitch Your Pilot and her recent Top Story in the Fairytale Challenge. Here I'd like to call your attention to another of Rebecca's, which you can read at the link below. Into this nostalgic memoir are woven some of the most interesting and comprehensive reflections on faith I've ever read here on Vocal - I don't want to spoil it for you, but just take a look at how within the microcosm of this deceptively simple narrative we see doubt and hypocrisy played out, before closing on a joyous affirmation of what belief is and what rewards it should bring. Although Rebecca's theme is religious, your own views (whatever they are) won't affect your enjoyment of this story, or your appreciation of its author's accomplishment. Rebecca ought to be required reading in this day and age, because her thoughtful and well-considered prose is exactly the kind of writing which AI will never be able to replicate! https://vocal.media/confessions/two-nine-year-old-atheists-walk-into-a-church

Alexandra Porter's https://vocal.media/chapters/beggledert-the-sorcerers I earlier read 'Proud to be Black'. Really great to see it featured here.

  • This deserves more attention ✨ https://vocal.media/fiction/weegie-wolf It will require a bit more time as it’s written in Scot’s / Glaswegian dialect .. but well worth it… it’s clever… it’s powerful… take a peek!

Lamar is an all round good guy supporting other creators and has produced some terrific work. This Aliens story really brightened up my day. Also inspired me to try my own hand at the challenge. Thanks Lamar. Check this out folks: https://vocal.media/authors/lamar-wiggins

  • Paul Stewart8 months ago

Hey peoples, Paul the word abuser, maligner and whatever. I write poetry, fiction, horror, satire, non-fictionand whatnot. This piece published earlier today by Kayleigh Fraser is some powerful writing that will, I am sure, resonate with many. It's incredibly brave, raw, but with a poetic beauty to it all! https://vocal.media/poets/life-lessons-b31l8057x

  • Judey wrote this emotional and vulnerable personal story… it’s extremely moving https://vocal.media/psyche/death-of-a-salesman-u41204gb
