Rest Easy

Not quite such a thing so sweet as eyes kissed shut and the sound of your breathing; gentle like the hand that brushed against my arm while the night floats on.

What midnight screening flashes before closed lids to cause so soft a smile? In all the chaos of the silence this brings peace; you bring the closest thing to peace.

And soon I hope to join you. Hold the elevator door please—don’t worry, I’ll get off where you do. Until then, your smile spreads to mine.
