Hey all, I'm Cody and mostly focus on writing daily articles about Legendary Leadership (with some pieces about my personal life and the craziness of building a business and category). I've been recently following the work of Alex H Mittelman here on Vocal, who does a lot of Fiction pieces. I find Ficition can unlock a lot of creativity if we allow it to! Alex recently wrote this: https://vocal.media/fiction/my-little-monster It's a piece that definitely deserved Top Story and it is an interesting insight into how others may view us, what may seem "normal" to us may get us labeled as "monsters" no matter how hard we try to "fit in" to other's standards. The Psychology of it is spot on, and it is also a great Halloween season read!
I recently started reading the works of Catherine Nyomenda. https://vocal.media/poets/mama-sf5k0f0k She is a budding poet who has some interesting creations.
Hello I am Parvez I was going my normal daily work and i saw this article Vocal's "Raise Your Voice Threads" emerge as a commendable initiative, seamlessly blending structure with community spirit. As a seasoned reviewer, the potential for creators to discover and uplift each other within this framework is evident. The threads stand as a testament to Vocal's commitment to fostering a vibrant and supportive writing community. My experience in this space has been marked by discovery, camaraderie, and a renewed appreciation for the diverse stories thriving on Vocal. Highly recommended for creators seeking a platform that values both individual expression and community collaboration.
Lately I've had the privilege of getting to know Staringale, and would like to recommend in particular the piece below. It might on first glance make you think of a prose reworking of the sonnet 'Still Life' by Elizabeth Dayrush, but crucially here, there's none of Dayrush's veiled bitter irony nor the Yeatsian portentousness of her closing couplet. Rather, Staringale's lyrical account of starting her day is a joyous and earnest celebration of nature along the lines of Emerson, reminding us that beauty is right front of us if we care to look, and an enchanting unravelling of ineffably feminine secrets to delight the reader. Staringale happens to be a student (her latest posts on examinations have been most entertaining!) and I must admit, I've never understood the modern vogue that insists young people must use the vernacular, or worse - and please forgive my dated terminology - "street talk." It wasn't so long ago, after all, that the whole point of being a student was to demonstrate a high vocabulary and poetic eloquence in constructing just this sort of diary narrative. Staringale reminds me of that earlier time, even though she's also thoroughly modern in the fashions and social world she describes. I hope she'll do the same for you! https://vocal.media/chapters/a-fairytale-escape-into-dawn-s-embrace
Hi, I'm Maureen and I mostly write about reading, books, and writing (especially murder mysteries :)). I recommend this story!: https://vocal.media/fiction/molodi-whistle . It's chapter 1 of a mystery set in South Africa (by a South African writer), and it's really good.
My only self-promotion I am brave enough to do: a Challenge! I sincerely want the Vocal community to participate in this one because I find it very interesting, and I think the community would too. I’m hoping that at least a few take a peek! Please, anyone? https://vocal.media/writers/personify-shadows
I really appreciated Rachel Deeming's poem today - easy, jaunty presentation, but actually complex and valuable in content. https://vocal.media/motivation/the-small-stuff
Heather Hubler has posted a new challenge today called Write Me A Letter. Celia in Underland's response is outstanding. https://vocal.media/confessions/from-lights-years-away-x
I've been diving into S A Crawford's Celtic Folklore series lately. Very interesting. https://vocal.media/fyi/scottish-folklore-cat-sith
https://vocal.media/futurism/the-devil-s-playground-6a22z07oc This piece by Stuart Orr is quite entertaining, to say the least. Sorta sci-fi, but more than that. A bit of Lynch, a tad of Shakespeare. Went badly unnoticed by the Vocal society. Do check it out!😉
Brenton F always makes good poetry whether he's serious or just goofing around. This new poem of his hits so bad in all the right places. https://vocal.media/poets/paper-cuts-152208e4
Such a beautifully written piece. It is utterly heartbreaking but so well done and really shows the depth and exquisiteness of Hannah's writing. I cried solidly for 30 minutes x https://vocal.media/fiction/autumn-days-ty1jm0qxs
"Thrilled to be a part of the 'Raise Your Voice Threads' community! 📢 It's the perfect opportunity to connect with fellow creators and explore the incredible stories that Vocal has to offer. Let's share the inspiration and lift each other up. Can't wait to read your recommendations and discover some fantastic talent. I would be glad if you check out my stories too!
I would also like to shout out Celia in Underland whose The Last Rays of Iteru chapter series is so unbelievably imaginative, it's bonkers. Start from the beginning and be wowed at her creation. She has provided links to all her chapters here. https://vocal.media/chapters/the-last-rays-of-iteru-8t6lx0ynd
Ok, here's another one from one of my favorites. I love the sense of humor Cathy Holmes brings to her stories, but when she waxes serious, hang on to your hat! It's already a Top Story, but in case you missed it: https://vocal.media/poets/sanctuary-pl1s07qt
Welp Idk many people on here but I can say I love to write fiction and if you like it then ye probably check me out, not physically tho lol, and thanks!
So many great creators on here but one who I think has a unique as well as inspirational style is Jay Kantor whose stories on Vocal are varied but all representative of his unequiVOCALly individual voice. Young writers who want to know what it is to be their authentic self on this platform should check him out. https://vocal.media/authors/jay-kantor
I’m Stephanie. I write mostly fiction and poetry with some nonfiction articles sprinkled throughout. I wanted to bring attention to Novel Allen’s humorous piece “Myself and Vocal Investment”. It creatively airs out a grievance with an attempt at investing in Vocal that went horribly awry, and I think it’s hilarious enough for everyone to check out: https://vocal.media/humor/myself-and-vocal-investment.
Hey, all! It's just me again, the old guy wasting time at his laptop. I've read so many good ones lately, but I want so start with a shoutout to this piece by Paul Stewart. It's a hard look at a sensitive subject, and well worth reading: https://vocal.media/fiction/sat-on-the-bed
Kenny Penn wrote another excellent chapter in our ongoing collaborative story, all of which you can check out here: https://vocal.media/chapters/a-white-mountains-mystery-the-cabin-chapter-6 For self-promotion, I finished my entry into the coven challenge, and I would put it up there with the very best of what I've published on here: https://vocal.media/fiction/the-holy-oaks-coven
