I'm the author of Diary of Knives, a novel in the universe of Engen Books. I'm here to experiment with my writing, and I look forward to exploring your work!
Walking the Skies
I guess I’ll start a long time ago. It wasn’t a far-away galaxy, but a theatre in the ‘90s. I was a child, barely in the double digits, and I was sitting with friends. There’d been some miscommunication about the snacks, and they came back with two gigantic packages of Skittles that no one else wanted. So, naturally, I accepted both and traded my drink because I wasn’t going to use it anyway. Then we all settled in and had a jump when STAR WARS did that one-note scream it does with the logo at the start of a movie.
At first glance, choosing a video game as my favourite fantasy world may seem odd. Especially since that opens the can of worms of having to scour all the great games that are out there. To say nothing of the fact that books absorb you into the experience of a magical and wondrous setting and story in a way that video games might not. Yet I have to give some kudos to The Legend of Dragoon and its setting, Endiness.

Hoarder of Sharps
“A dragon’s weakness is its heart.” A propaganda broadcast from the wall-screens. Brick and her younger sister, Mortar, were lounging in their smart home. Both were wearing collars, of course; it was illegal to take them off. From Brick’s collar dangled a heart-shaped locket. There were no windows.
Choose Your Character
“We are who we choose to be” is a signature line of James Raynor, one of the protagonists in the StarCraft video game series. Resounding with the simple power of language, it’s a direct message, understandable and relatable. He has compelling word choice and a compelling character; rousing speeches and a living personality.
