surreal poetry
Surrealist poetry embodies the essence of poetry itself, drawing upon shocking imagery and lyrical incongruities to comment on the inner-workings of the mind.
Tea with Purity, Leaving Impurity at the Door
"Modest is hottest," they used to always say,the older I grow, the more I observe moral decay. Sadly, Purity has been scoffed at and made out to be cruel, but in reality she can be wielded as a precious, savory tool.Purity could commence today if she is summoned, or enjoined;though Impurity is appealing, from loins he will have purloined, innocence robbed and loving gift left unwrapped,I will have fallen into Impurity's arms, thus becoming trapped.Today, I have invited Purity to have tea with me, I expected harshness, for my shortcomings felt vast as the sea,but instead she greeted me with quiet repentance and grace, for my past sins, which she brushed into the ashy fireplace. Her tea smelled of loving lavender and hopeful honey, how I felt so peaceful and at ease, my heartbeat now sunny. Envious and outraged, Impurity knocked at the door, for attention, he was being paid no more. Purity, smiling with assurance and composure, she knew his time had been put up for foreclosure.Without much need for thought, she commanded him to leave, for she knew that all he desired was for me to deceive.
