Restlessness

By Brianna Galligan

By Brianna Lynn GalliganPublished 6 years ago 1 min read

As the dusk passes over with night’s frozen kiss ,

As endless lost memories dissolve in a mist ,

As hands go on ticking and making their lists,

I lie awake.

Drifting in endless decisions of thought .

Grappling through history of iron now wrought .

And thinking of inklings that only can rot ,

I lie awake.

The tossing and turning amount to no end ...

The eyes ever searching the shadows that bend ...

The choices of parents or lovers or friends ...

I lie awake.

Abaft the dreams of nights before ,

Of souls which lie floating on a floor ,

That shall be lifted nevermore ,

I lie awake.

Surreal ramblings intoxicate ,

As sudden sleep walking deprecates .

Nothing seems real in this suffocate .

So I lie awake.
