Why I Chose Vocal?
What Exactly is Vocal? According to the Vocal Team, "Vocal is a platform for supporting, discovering, and rewarding creators. Vocal provides storytelling tools and engaged communities for writers, musicians, filmmakers, artists, and all types of creatives to get discovered and fund their creativity." (Vocal Team, 2019) Isn't that amazing? Where else are you going to get this great of an opportunity? Sure, you might find something that is similar, but I promise Vocal is the best option. They encourage you and give you so many opportunities. They even have a free option for you. You know it is rare to find things free in the world we live in today.

I'm so sick of social media evoking jealousy and self-doubt. All artists and entrepreneurs across the world have one thing in common, the ultimate goal of making a living creating content they love. With that goal comes a million other familiar emotions: the up until 3am perfecting one's craft work ethic, the anxiety of quitting a stable 9-5 job, and the jealousy of others in your field excelling.

In my sophomore year of high school, my friends and I revelled in the evenings spent gathering around each other's living rooms. A typical evening for us revolved around snacks, Netflix and the latest Youtube videos. Youtube was our source for popular music, gaming and practical jokes. Some of our favourite Youtubers included Jenna Marbles, Markiplier and Roman Atwood. I lived in an idyllic neighbourhood and recall many fond memories of my childhood.

I sat in our new rocking chair we bought in preparation for our baby, angled so my view was directly outside. I was hit with flashbacks to my grandpa's ranch in rural Missouri. The patio faced endless rolling hills as you’d see in a Bob Ross painting; dotted with bison, patches of forest, and ponds splotched in the valleys. Chunks of my childhood summers were spent here, but in my memory I feel as though it was my true home.

What I mean by decentralized income For those familiar with the rise of various blockchain & cryptocurrency technologies, the term “decentralized” probably isn’t a new one. Instead of one central server controlled by one entity, you can now have multiple computers/servers with open-source software controlled by everyone. Since this is (somewhat) becoming the norm in the tech world, why not apply this to something we greatly depend on? Why not have multiple sources of income in lieu of one “central” stream of funds?

Corona has offered many different experiences. The majority of which were unfortunately bad. However others experienced a different kind of journey. One where the sickness started in the mind and the antedote being to face yourself and force a change for the bigger picture. For yourself. And eventually for humanity.
Karina MoumnePublished 4 years ago in MotivationThe Life Advice TikTok That Should Have Gone Viral.
I’ve always viewed social media as a gateway to the world. It didn’t matter to me when people said my age bracket outgrew an app like TikTok, widely considered to be a Gen-Z dominated platform. I think no matter how old I get, I’ll always been an “early adopter”. Maybe my youthful attitude will be ill-advised when I reach my late 30s and I’m doing the next whimsical viral dance challenge, but right now, I want to explore. And soon after I downloaded TikTok I found that like all social media/content sharing platforms, pretty much anyone, of any age, can build an audience. I started posting clips of me singing and sharing my skincare faves (@suthemani if anyone's curious), but I mostly browse and consume videos.

YouTube was never something that I had envisioned for myself. I would hear my friends talk about it but never really saw the appeal. Then I got to a low point where I had been trying to find my way in the world and learn how writing could remain a part of my life that would give me a substantial income so that I wouldn't have to lose the one thing that I loved.

My dream home is a place of peace. A place of sanity. And a place of hope. There is no unnecessary chaos in my home.

The world of social media can feel a little daunting at times can't it? Fancy food, holiday pics, models, super models, more super models. There's a chance when we're sat on the couch with the same Mum bun we've had in for three days; dipping a penguin into a jar of Nutella; whilst surfing the gram; between tackling laundry mountain, it could possibly, make us feel a tad inferior. I'm definitely not using those examples because they're exactly what I'm doing right now as I type this… There's Nutella on my shirt? That's somebody else's Nutella! Don't you look at me like that!

This year, we have been forced to think of sacrifice and the things we can’t do. Now is the perfect time to switch our focus to all the things we can do.
