The Vocal Challenge 2020. Top Story - December 2019.
January is closing in and the New Year's resolutions are beginning to pile in by the million. But, honestly, how many times have we promised ourselves that we'll cut out drinking or snacking only to then scrap the goal mid-January time? How many promises have we broken to not only ourselves, but also to our friends and families, as well? It's not usually the greatest of starts, is it? But that's alright – because, annoyingly, we're all guilty of doing it.

Why Being “The Popular Girl” or “Pretty Girl” is a lonely place.
I used to want to be one of those girls who every guy would flock over when she entered a room. I wanted to be and feel beautiful. I wanted to be that girl with the amazing hair, great smile, beautiful eyes and fabulous style. Then. I. Became. Her.

Medical Miracle
My name is Ashley and I am someone that has had a first hand lesson on how tough and cruel this world can be...... I first arrived in Australia in 2008 to attend my sister’s graduation. I was mesmerised and impressed with what I saw and I told my parents that I would return to Australia as a University student, I was 14 at the time.

Keeping That Positive Mindset
Lately, it seems that I’m always fighting hard to stay positive and focused on important goals I’m trying to accomplish. And, it should not be a struggle to maintain a positive mindset when you know in your heart that positive thinking usually creates positive results. It never fails for negative thoughts to pop into my mind after speaking to someone with a negative thought process, daily. It’s easy now to understand why some people often use the term “energy drainers” when it comes to socializing too long with cynics and negative-thinking people. Sometimes, these cynics seemed to be determined to dash the hopes and dreams of others, for whatever reasons.

NEW YEAR NEW OPPORTUNITIES! ✨💫
Everyone wants to have a New Years resolution....but lately people have been saying I don’t have one! Because they are afraid that once they say my New Years resolution is to make more money or get fit in 3 months time they will stop trying.

Consistency
As I have continued to grow through life, I've found that the struggle never really ends. That's one theme that seems to remain constant in life. I don't mean that in a, "please be sympathetic to my situation", but in a when will it end kind of way. I have had a multitude of occupations where I have absolutely loved what I'm doing or the exact opposite, where I wanted to gauge my eyes out. Either way, each of those jobs has led me to where I am now. Stagnant. With 28 years under my belt, I feel like I could write a book on this, with said title (don't steal my title, I have a special set of skills, and I will find you). It all just feels the same at this point. You start acclimating yourself with your surroundings and environment and boom the iron fist drops. Time to find a new place of employment, and whether that be going through a temp agency, contract company, or permanent position, the process is daunting and endless.

The Other Side of Christmas
I've been Christmas af for as long as I can remember. I loved everything about it. Obviously as a child, the thrill of knowing you have new toys and gifts waiting for you is your main point of focus but as I got older, and my presents became more scarce, I started to fall in love with the feeling of Christmas and not the expense of it. I truly adored the tradition. Every year, without fail, the last minute stress of getting those forgotten gifts, the Christmas Eve "you can open just one", the never being ready to leave for my Nanny's house on time, my Nanny being a level ninety-nine on the stress scale but forever refusing help. The one day a year that everyone just shuts up. The one day that the scattered pieces of family fit together.

4 Reasons New Years Eve is Overrated
Hello, my name is Sal and I don’t like New Years Eve. The first step toward my recovery from this issue was admitting that I have a problem with it. Don’t get me wrong; I had a really good crack at becoming a New Years Eve person, many a time. I even learnt all the words to ‘Auld Lang Syne’ which incidentally, is a waste of time because everyone is usually shit-faced by the time that song comes on. I've definitely made a solid effort to embrace the evening over the years, I've had the hangovers to prove it.

How To Enrich Your Life and Live It Full Out
People are constantly trying to live up to some kind of expectation. These norms are not always meant to be the best thing for us, and so we get caught in a vortex of striving for success and winding up unhappy. You might feel like you have to change yourself in order to move ahead in life, that you need to cover certain scars, and smile for the camera.
