The Right Thing
I used to take my gratitude for granted. My parents provided a safe and nuturing enviroment for me and my two siblings at home growing up. It is now that I can appreciate the lengths that they went to and everything that they were patient with for putting up with my shenanigans.

For All the Women Who Helped Me Along the Longest Road.
I am a different person today not because of just one individual woman. I have been shaped and influenced by strong female figures throughout countless instances of my life. But, the last few years have particularly been both a struggle and in some ways, the most transformational period in my journey to becoming a better human being overall.

Rewire Your Mind: How to Train Yourself to be Happy
The almighty curse of overthinking. We’ve all been there. Stop me if this sounds familiar: you and your significant other or your best friend are arguing. All of a sudden, they say something that sends a message to your brain that reads something like “they hate me” or “they think I'm ugly” or “if they loved me they would do xyz.”

how it all started #2
i was growing more and more each day, still reminded constantly about the past over and over again. i was 12 and that's when it all started, i started to feel even worse about myself, i started to feel that hurt aching pain in my chest everyday, there was no reason for me to feel like that, i just felt it and it hurt physically and mentally to the point where i would cry. ALl that pain and hurt had no reason at all, i was beyond confused. It started to get worse very slowly, that feeling became stronger and more frequent through the days. I want to explain (the feeling) better, it was like a random punch of sadness, anger, hurt, emptiness and loneliness, and it hit you at random times ill be laughing, smiling or just enjoying my time. Then something just comes over you and takes you over, but i end up coming back after a short amount of time and i was back to me i think. This feeling became more longer and would not leave me alone.

Life of a Liver Transplant Recipent
Hi all my name is Bernice Allan, I am currently 24 years old, I have completed in Numerous Australian Transplant Games and One World Transplant Games which was held in 2009 based in Gold Coast Australia. At Nine months old in 1996 my life was changed forever. My parents were told that I have 24 hours to live due to a serious liver conditon which was callied Bilary Atresia which is an imcomplete development of the bile duct. Just as my loved ones were about to say good bye I was rushed into theatre for 10 hours to recieve the 'Gift of Life' which was Liver Transplant on Valentines Day (14th Feburary 1996). I just celebrated 24 years since having this transplant. Most have to wait, days, week, months or even years to recieve an organ transplant but my parents and health professionals knew I wouldn't be able to survive if i didn't recieve a new liver within the 24 hours. Due to my liver condition that I was diagnosed with at 24 hours to live I now from Hearing loss which I have a mental plate in my head to wear a baha and waiting for my left side of my head to be done. I also suffer from severe sleep apnoea, have to wear glasses or contact lenses due to an eye condition called astigmatism. When I started schooling my parents was told that I am going to suffer from Developmental Delay which is classed as an Intellectual Disability which I was placed in a Special Needs class or mainstream throughout my whole schooling. I was involved in 'Bandage Bear Day' which was selling bandage bears to raise money for an operating theatre, Little Livers' which was doing fundraising for people in need while going through this experience. I get involved in Fundraising events because I love working in the community. Fundraising helps improve the lives of people that are living or knows someone that is living with an illness or disease. I have been helped, so I want to help others. I think that I will always help other people because I'm a caring person and I want people to be happy and healthy. Due to having a Liver Transplant I have to take Cyclosprin twice a day orally, this medication stops my liver from being rejected. Even thought I suffer from Borderline Personaility Disorder, Depression, Anxiety, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, other mental and physical health problems. I am about graduate from my Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability), I left my family and friends in South Australia to move to Victoria with my partner. My main goal is to become a Nurse or Transplant Nurse. Having this Liver Transplant has changed mine and my loved ones life around, as its has given me a second chance of life. It has made me who I am today. I think that I am a caring person and have a good personality. If I didnt recieve the transplant, I wouldn't be involved in fundraising and completing in the Australian and World Transplant Games. This would also meant that I wouldn't have met all the amazing and caring friends that I have today.

Pointless
You know... more and more I just realize how tired I am... how pointless things are. Quite honestly I don't understand most people and I am clearly not understood. The idea of waking up and repeating the same thing day in and day out, feels redundant. Giving up your time and your life in order to get food and shelter rather than just building a shelter, and being done with it, and raising/growing just the food you and your family needs... You try to not be alone and end up feeling more and more alone, alienated and different. Even if the shrink says there isn't anything really wrong with you to worry about, someone will always think your crazy... Try to live and have fun or hell even regain a childhood you never got. People tell you to grow up, stop wasting your life, go get a job and waste it toiling away there instead. Often making garbage no one really needs but somebody will buy anyways. When you get there they always want more, do more, be more motivated, always pushing the idea of the grand big paycheck for hard work, that often never comes. When it does, honestly the work to keep it and your age prevent enjoyment. But you go through the motions see the world more and more for what it is, rationalize, realize, you form ideas, write, design things, think things that could be invented. Even how they'd work. It never matters though, you're not a famous author, doors close quick, your ideas get you called a dreamer. Not skills to actually make them, often with no money to learn the skills... keeps them as ideas, makes them daydreams pipe dreams.. You get expected more and more to conform, to be normal to be the same.. to give up little pieces of you and become the machine... No one tells you the machine is complex, that moving from one part or talking to another part, each part has a slight variation to what normal is.. Things that are o.k to say to do to think, to feel. You try to belong, you drift from place to place, trying to find the part where you are normal. Where you don't feel like less for thinking, for having ideas. Where you don't feel you have to either explain every little though or idea like it's a complex blue print in order to be understood, and then ridiculed for it, not being fully understood anyways. Being seen as stupid because you simplify, ask, and clarify to be sure you understand someone else.. Becoming newly labeled as socially retarded by others... You look and you look.. Eventually if you tried at all, you give up, you close yourself off, you become a shut in.. Alone texting through a screen, trying to fill a hole a gap that doesn't belong. But it's been there for a long time.. Something that was never added... Or is there because to much was added and you went through it too fast or maybe you lost it.. Maybe from moving in the first place, or maybe it was falling ill, bad news constantly, ,maybe you tell people and hope they care and bond.. Maybe you do and no one really does... Maybe you don't because you wish, not to worry others, maybe you don't want pity.. Maybe you live years in pain, health getting worse but never showing it, living longer than expected. Doesn't matter it isn't there, and you can see. Eyes open how different you are the world is, how society is actually fucked up and crazy trying to conform to this illusion of normal. Shunning differences, we are told to embrace as children. How normal isn't a real thing and yet we attack anyone and everything that doesn't fit into that little bubble of what we see as normal. We call it sinful, wrong, sickness, illness, smash it with religion, try to smother it with pills. Create anxiety and depression, and turn a profit from it rather than showing acceptance and trying embrace the difference to create the place where that piece can fit.. That different mind that could have been a scientist, a doctor, an actor, had they not been just seen as different. Yet the machine goes on daily, on and on never ceasing, growing , consuming. Molding it's special little parts to replace the old parts, too many parts, more than needed, producing, consuming more than needed, slowly burning the machine out. Creating more and more pieces that don't fit because they just aren't needed now... Spares in case of defects. Turning lives into cogs and sprockets to drive society, to attempt to cheat death as long as long as we can. Avoiding the natural selection, survival of the fittest, the balance to the food chain....Growing older and older going on and on.. Maybe some days the pain is unbearable not just emotionally, mentally, spiritually but physically as well, it never changes. Expected to breed or forbidden to breed, sex sells and love doesn't, color and brightness fade away, dreams become regrets even different, being part of the machine is all there is. Do it or starve, greed, vanity, lust are everywhere you look, everything is just cold. You lose interest in it all..The frivolousness of it all, parts breaking and destroying other parts, as schools get shot up, countries war and bicker, like over sized children. We argue for rights and freedoms that should honestly have been ours are a birthright, yet are no more than lies, equality for every part. No matter the shape, size, color and how it joins... Because we did not rise up, we became the machine men, the great dictator warned us of, became so close together and yet infinitely apart... A slowly breaking, un-fixable machine that runs our lives, is our lives and how confining, controlling, imprisoning and so very utterly pointless it is.

And I'm Back In The Game!
Well it has been quite some time since I've sat down and wrote an article! Years ago, I used to write for a fan contribution site called MoviePilot (later renamed Creators). Over the course of three years, dozens of articles, interviews with celebrities, and covering a handful of special events as a member of the press, writing became something I love to do in my free time. Since the company went under, it continued to be something I've explored from time to time with spec scripts for current shows and attempts at writing my own television and movie scripts. Sadly, over the years, writing was put on the back burner behind training martial arts, cosplaying, and going to conventions. Every now and then I'd get that spark of "Hm... that's a fun concept for a show/movie/short" but would rarely act on it. But with "normal life" taking a hiatus for an undetermined amount of time because of the COVID-19 pandemic, I figured this is a great time to get back to it.

The Positives/Silver Linings Emerging From The Coronavirus
Depending on where you live in the world, many of us have been in quarantine and/or self isolation from the Coronavirus pandemic longer than others. Yet this COVID-19 pandemic is affecting us all. It is normal to live in fear, negativity, stress, anxiety and doom and gloom during these uncertain and unsettling times. Personally, one minute I am feeling awesome and at peace with being stuck (completely isolated) at home, living alone, while the next my body is reacting with unpleasant emotions that I can't fathom at the time. The latter is all part of the process of grief and shock that every single human being is going through right now.

5 Ways Quarantine Has Helped Me
It's not a surprise to anyone that I really do not like this quarantine thing. I hate being pent up, and I am such a restless person. I kept two jobs throughout college, I worked 50+ hours a week at Disney, and I was known to petsit for up to three families a week. So naturally, getting laid off and being told I should only leave my house when absolutely necessary, as well as most of the places I like going to being closed, has been a huge slap in the face to me. But honestly, and I thought I would be the LAST person to do this, I must say it's been good in some ways.

The Cheer-up Trifecta
I really do love this age of media... but saying that feels like I just let a swear-word slip in front of my boss. I know that the use of media isn't always constructive or positive but I find it so incredible that we, the humans living on this earth right now, are the first ones to have ever experienced it like this. We've stumbled upon a moment in history: we are "the age of the internet". I think the best thing about it is we are all figuring out that the internet, so saturated and full to the brim with information, is almost entirely what we decide we want it to be. Certainly it's always important to explore new sources of information and to keep up to date on current events, but you ultimately have the power to decide when and where and how you do that. We can find a happy place on the internet amidst the chaos of the information overload. We can create better online environments for ourselves and others by interacting with joy and ignoring hatred and negativity. We can use this tool to connect rather than divide if we so choose. It's truly amazing how much power we have over our own feelings and experiences even in the wake of all of this information!
