The Positives/Silver Linings Emerging From The Coronavirus

Let's Be Mindful Of The Good Things Emerging From This Unfortunate Health And Economic Crisis

Depending on where you live in the world, many of us have been in quarantine and/or self isolation from the Coronavirus pandemic longer than others. Yet this COVID-19 pandemic is affecting us all. It is normal to live in fear, negativity, stress, anxiety and doom and gloom during these uncertain and unsettling times. Personally, one minute I am feeling awesome and at peace with being stuck (completely isolated) at home, living alone, while the next my body is reacting with unpleasant emotions that I can't fathom at the time. The latter is all part of the process of grief and shock that every single human being is going through right now.

On the other hand, there are many positive blessings that are coming up through the human spirit, both from my observations, and from connecting with other people during the two weeks where my home city of Sydney, Australia has been in lockdown for. The below is presented in order of brainstorming.

1. Our health is everything/we're taking better care of our health

Knowing the statistics of COVID-19, and knowing that no age group is immune to this intense virus; our health has become more precious than ever. Across the board many of us are starting to juice cleanse and exercise more, as well as step up on cleanliness and hygiene so to not get sick. This pandemic is giving us all a golden opportunity to strengthen our immune system, in addition to making exercise and drinking more filtered water as musts.

2. The environment will benefit/mother nature is already smiling

Already we're seeing cleaner air and less pollution; and the longer we all have to stay at home to slow down the spread of this infection, the more cleaner our earth will be. It is even possible for climate change to be reversed, and for that gigantic hole in the ozone layer to cover up.

3. Money mindfulness/conscious spending

During this time, consumerism has been halted, of which the knock on effects will benefit the environment (yes, less goods in landfill) as well as our wallets and bank accounts. People will begin to say no to financial stress. Already yours truly has seen her unnecessary spending diminish, even though I was conscious of my spending before having to self isolate at home. We will now think not once but three times before making a purchasing decision once we all return to the other side. We will still stimulate our economy (thank you to Government stimulus), yet we won't need to own as much stuff, and/or travel as much as we used to for example. Debt isn't cool, and many people will begin to be aware of the importance of having emergency savings behind them. Irrespective of interest rates, saving money is critical.

4. The way we work and study has changed profoundly in a short space of time

Time in hibernation makes way for healing to take place. Many people will have the space to reflect on their careers and businesses. It is unfortunate that an abundance of fellow human beings have lost their jobs; been stood down, while many more have had their hours cut at work. Some people will change careers for the better, while others will not return to the jobs they once lost. New industries, jobs and ways of working will come out on the other side. Many office workers who have now been asked to work from home will not want to return to the office, and thereby they will save time and travel costs to spend more time at home, and/or with their loved ones. An abundance of new, online businesses will be born out of this pandemic, helping more people have multiple streams of income. Micro-credentials will also begin to take off, where students will see the benefits of graduating from their studies sooner for a small fraction of the costs of studying on campus for a full degree.

5. Home is where the heart is

Many of us are also upping the ante on cleaning and disinfecting our homes more than ever, as well as rearranging our living spaces for new, positive energies to arrive. Even though we will be stuck at home for a while; however we will find creative ways to entertain ourselves and have more fun at home. This is the time to declutter our homes in order to feel lighter and more abundant.

6. World unity, and greater connections with others.

Every country is going through this COVID-19 pandemic together. The weapons and guns are put down, and more empathy is rising to the surface. The entire world will unite and join in activities together. The world co-operated in closing down borders to prevent the spread of the virus. People will connect more frequently, and don't be surprised if you do hear from exes and old friends. We are also reaching out to the elderly and vulnerable right now. The paradigm has shifted from "how can I make more money?" to "How can I help?" Random acts of kindness is multiplying. The Government and the private sector have started to learn that they really need each other in order to help world economies flourish. Any system that does not work for the greater good will be exposed, and will highly likely perish within the next 1-2 years. Sadly, many people in supermarkets are still fighting over the petty things like loo paper. Everyone will experience an awakening...from the basic to the extreme, depending on the life lessons you're here to learn.

Great opportunities come knocking from the coronavirus, and it is up to you to try on and to then implement new and positive routines in your life. Now is the time to try new activities within the home, as well as to meditate and be more grateful for the good that we actually have. Opportunities come to experiment with new recipes for example - new ways of living and connecting. You can either complain about your current circumstances, or adapt and reap these benefits that the Coronavirus has wrapped up for all of us. Please stay safe and well.
