How and why I unintentionally voted for a woman...
3FEB2021; 2145, WED Being that it's Black History Month, and considering the many sacrifices that were made so that people who have my dark complexion and whatnot can vote, I figure what better time to finally write and submit this post that's been sitting in my drafts since right around Election Day in November. I only had the title, subtitle, and featured image selected, but I digress.

From a Pan-African socialist to Pan-African nationalist
31JAN2021; 2155, SUN Considering that Black History Month officially kicks off in the next couple hours or so, I figure what better time than now to reflect on some of my more radical ideals and such; as well as some arguably legitimate grievances. According to the ancient West African philosophy of Sankofa, looking back into the past is one of the best, and only, ways to shape our futures with posterity (subsequent generations) in mind.

Where the rubber...
25JAN2021; 0035, MON Pardon the wordplay, but I've been pretty much just jamming out to the living legend, J. Cole for the past couple days. I knew that he had an extensive catalog, and I'm really glad that I chose him to accompany me on the past couple adventures.

Dads, daughters, and derringers
24JAN2021; 0705, SUN "If I could rule the world, everyone would have a gun/In the ghetto of course, when giddy-upping on their horse..."- Wyclef Jean of The Fugees back in '96. Switching gears from the debate on the merits of "free money", I'm all but immediately reminded of the adage, "Free men own firearms; not slaves."

Personal brushes with death
Please believe that I was supposed to be having my date with Destiny and meet a tragic fate many times over. These are just the times that I can recollect and/or was more or less informed of by others with first hand knowledge of the situations.

My 3.5 hrs as a professional mover
30DEC2020; 1150, WED Some of you (those friends/fam that can see my location on your phones) may or may not be wondering why I'm sitting at this lake, jamming out instead of finishing up my orientation and whatnot. I most def put in more than a few prayer requests and had no small measure of luck making it as far as I did with the company that just let me go.

"One Beer"
25DEC2020; 2110, FRI As I sit in my living room sipping sparkling cider, counting my blessings with a "disinformation-friendly outlet" (OANN) playing in the background, I can't help but reminisce on the "drunk nights [that] get remembered more than the sober ones"- Common's intro, and eponymous track off his 6th album, "Be" (24MAY2005). I figure that it's been a New York minute since my last list and I've yet to do a post for the "Proof" community, why not kill two birds with one stone?

"Midnight In A Perfect World"
14DEC2020; 2315, MON. Dear Fam, Tell me, Brother Man, ever heard the adage "the money don't really make me whole"? My first time hearing it was likely somewhere around the time that the beautiful and talented rapper, Noname (formerly known as Noname Gypsy), decided to open up her debut mixtape with that line way back eons ago on 7JUL2016.

"The world is so cruel; my heart torn in two"
I don't know who took this pic of me some ten odd years ago, or what was going through my mind at the time. It's self-evident however that I might could have avoided a lot of heartbreak and whatnot had I just taken the advice of my "old heads" around that general timeframe.
