Maurice Bernard dishes about mental illness, sheltering in place, his new book, and going back to work
According to the Associated Press, soap vet Maurice Bernard is having a hard time dealing with sheltering in place for two reasons. The actor deals with bipolar disorder and is also anxious about his new book, “ Nothing General About It: How Love (And Lithium) Saved Me On and Off General Hospital.” Bernard has been very forthcoming regarding his being diagnosed with bipolar disorder and how his spouse and the medication lithium have helped him to cope. Bernard thought that by now he would be promoting his book in addition to acting on General Hospital. Both were sidelined during the pandemic and have caused the popular daytime star some angst.

Lisinopril brings “the cough from hell”
About five years ago my doctor decided to put me on a medication to lower my blood pressure. Up until this time, diet and exercise were working but not anymore. My numbers were ranging 230/140 and that is not good at all. I was prescribed Lisinopril and for the two months that I took it, I was miserable. I did not initially make the connection and thought other things were wrong with me. I believed I was dealing with sinus problems and allergies. It started with a cough at around 4:00 every morning. I would cough nine or 10 times in a row, and could not stop. This is a very troubling feeling because most times I cough a little and it would go away but I had absolutely no control over this. I had never experienced side effects from medication before so this upset me greatly. During the day I began experiencing indigestion and acid reflux. When I bent over my chest felt as if it were on fire and after eating my throat hurt and my ears burned. I tried over the counter remedies but they did not help much.

The Bold and the Beautiful: Steffy falls for the 'Liberty Biberty' guy
Fans of The Bold and the Beautiful have been hoping and waiting to see Steffy Forrester get over Liam and move on. Last November there were rumors that Daniel Goddard, who had just been let go from The Young and the Restless would join the sister soap and romance Ms. Forrester. That did not pan out and the triangle between Hope, Liam, and Steffy continued in its various forms. A few weeks back, Don Diamont put up photos with Jacqueline Woods, indicating the two were on the set of the CBS daytime drama. This sparked rumors that Dollar Bill and Steffy would become an item again.

Delon de Metz is recast as Zende on ‘The Bold and the Beautiful“
Fans of The Bold and the Beautiful have complained for some time about favorite characters placed in the background and the lack of diversity on the show. Beloved characters like Charlie, Pam. and Donna are rarely seen. Black and brown cast have been introduced, but never stick around, or are seen infrequently. Maya Avant, her mom Vivienne and dad Julius, Xander, Nicole, Zende, Zoe, Carter, Justin, Detective Sanchez, Dr, Buckingham, and Seargent Baker are but memories at this point. Soap Dirt, however, is now reporting that one former B&B actor, a person of color will soon return to the LA. fashion world.

Eric Braeden back on the set of The Young and the Restless
It was announced sometime back that when daytime drama shows returned from hiatus, the actors over age 65 would not be allowed to tape scenes right away. This was because of the risk of COVID-19 for older adults. Eric Braeden ( Victor Newman, The Young and the Restless) immediately spoke out saying that senior cast members should be able to sign a waiver and resume working if they so desire. It looks like Braeden wields the same power as his, alter ego, Victor because Soap Dirt says the veteran actor will be among the first on the set, should Y&R begin taping next week. The projected first day is alleged to be July 15.

'General Hospital' breaking news: Two female cast members test positive for COVID-19
When it comes to spoiler alerts and breaking news related to the four remaining soap operas, fans know to tread with caution. This is especially true when a serious accusation is lodged against a favorite actor or actress. Viewers don't like to be given fake news, but in the entertainment business, it does happen. Just because a set insider or trusted source has supposedly revealed breaking news, does not prove that it is absolutely true. Even so, viewers do want to know what is allegedly going on with their favorite programs as well as the cast members who portray their beloved characters. Having said that I will now report what has been written, but please keep in mind this is merely a rumor at this point.

Black women please stop hiding your hair
African women who were enslaved in America wore head coverings and I’ve heard several theories on the reasons why. The first is that the scarf on their head identified the plantation they belonged to. The second is that there were female mistresses who were envious of the diversify of styles and textures of black hair and made their female slaves cover up their mane out of jealousy. The third is a lack of ability to care properly for their hair while enslaved. Whatever the reason hair textures began to change once the masters began raping slave girls who later produced biracial children. This is why there are so many different textures of black hair, which can be bone straight or extremely coarse.

'The Young and the Restless' changes restart date to mid-July
The executives at The Young and the Restless had given July 6, as a tentative date to begin taping again. Fans were eagerly awaiting to hear when the first new episodes we’re going to appear on screen. Unfortunately, the recent upswing in this latest coronavirus has caused the CBS daytime drama to have a set back and delay new episodes until at least mid-July. This is disappointing to fans because there have been no fresh programs since March. Now that COVID-19 is increasing once more, there simply are no guarantees where this pandemic is concerned. Viewers should prepare themselves for the possibility of an even longer delay. In the meantime, Soap Dirt revealed last week that Nick, Adam, and Sharon will be three of the first cast members to film new scenes.

‘Greenleaf’ spoiler: AJ's secret changes everything and the revelations will keep on coming.
Tuesday night’s episode of ‘Greenleaf’ flipped the script on what many viewers thought they had figured out. Fans have been on social media, discussing the possibility that the young man Grace has taken into her home is not her biological child. A number of viewers thought the reason AJ did not want his parents to visit him in the hospital is that he was ashamed to have been scamming everyone. Another angle that was brought up on Facebook is that the young man who died was really the son Gigi had by Noah, and put up for adoption.

Kristian Alphonso exits Days after 37 years
The soap world is losing a dynamic actress as Kristian Alphonso has decided to leave Days of Our Lives. She announced on Instagram on July 6 that she has filmed her final scenes and will not be with the show when it returns in September. Alphonzo, along with Peter Reckel were one of the most popular soap couples ever as Bo and Hope Brady. I remember when a young Alphonzo took over the role of Doug Williams's daughter and Julie's half sister. She portrayed a teen who was smitten with Beauregard Brady who regarded her as a mere child. She eventually won his heart and their wedding was one of the highest rated soap episodes ever.

‘Greenleaf’ creator explains why show must come to an end
You may not have heard of Craig Wright but he is the man behind the hit OWN series Greenleaf. The show airs on Tuesday nights at 9:00 PM and follows the lives of the Bishop of a megachurch and his family. Wright first met Oprah Winfrey when he was hired as a consultant on her program Belief. The two began talking and found out they had some things in common regarding their lives. Oprah had grown up in the black church and Wright had once spent time with Rabi’s thinking this was his calling. He later received a Master of Divinity and became a Methodist minister. He left it all behind when he received a call to come to Hollywood to utilize his talent as a writer.
