'The Young and the Restless' changes restart date to mid-July

The executives at The Young and the Restless had given July 6, as a tentative date to begin taping again. Fans were eagerly awaiting to hear when the first new episodes we’re going to appear on screen. Unfortunately, the recent upswing in this latest coronavirus has caused the CBS daytime drama to have a set back and delay new episodes until at least mid-July. This is disappointing to fans because there have been no fresh programs since March. Now that COVID-19 is increasing once more, there simply are no guarantees where this pandemic is concerned. Viewers should prepare themselves for the possibility of an even longer delay. In the meantime, Soap Dirt revealed last week that Nick, Adam, and Sharon will be three of the first cast members to film new scenes.

No details have been given, regarding what will happen first when Y&R returns but spoiler alerts are proposing several interesting and conflicting storylines surrounding the same Genoa City residents. Without knowing for certain what’s coming next, spoilers aren’t giving fans a lot of possibilities to consider. There are rumors that Adam and Sharon might get back together because their portrayers, Mark Grossman and Sharon Case are dating in real life. Britney Sarpy and Bryton James are also dating off screen and their characters are not dealing with any drama on screen.

The other Genoa City residents have a lot of unresolved issues that could send them in various directions. Last month Soap Dirt projected that when Adam finds out Sharon has cancer, the two of them will grow close again. When they hook up It will devastate Rey who will then leave Genoa City. This will lead to Shaddam getting back together and Nick and Chelsea reuniting, which many viewers don’t want to happen. The Young and the Restless took so long to finally get Adam and Chelsea together that’ some fans lost interest in the couple and they don’t want to see her with Nick either. Soap Hub, however, is presenting a completely different scenario than what has just been suggested.

This spoiler is suggesting that several current couples might tie the knot and they are: Adam and Chelsea, Devon and Elena, and Nick and Chelsea. This line of thinking would lead to Rey remaining in Genoa City and possibly popping the question to Sharon. All of this possible wedded bliss sounds too good to be true, but the chaos of the couples changing partners like musical chairs, and Rey having his heart broken seems a bit more realistic for Y&R. At this point, no one knows anything for certain and as long as taping continues to be delayed, who knows what the writers are thinking about. One actor who continues to keep his fans up to date is Eric Braden.

He posts daily on Facebook and Twitter, addressing current events and proclaiming his disdain for the Trump administration. He even posted pictures with no shirt on and his hair messy coming straight out of the shower. Braeden recently shared a video where he said Victor was warning Jack, Adam,and Billy Boy that he is coming for them. The soap vets photo’s and video’s indicate he is working out and keeping himself physically fit, but he may not be able to step into Victor's shoes for a while. The actor referred to himself as a “ stubborn old bastard” but neither Vuctor nor Eric can stop the problems caused by COVID-19.

The rumor mill continues to suggest that actors over age 65 will not be allowed back on the soaps right away and the continued delays make their return even longer. Braden and other cast members of The Young and the Restless are eager to get back to work. so this recent news surely must be as devastating to them as it is to the fans. Every0one knows that this coronavirus is real, and no one desires for the actors to risk their lives to come back to work too soon. Even so, they are beloved, and missed and will be worth the wait when everything is set in order. Viewers are tiring of the classic reruns , but it looks like there will be a few weeks more with the date of new episodes being pushed back.
