Can A Dream Tell Us The Future
Much has been written regarding dreams and their meanings or purpose. Mankind has been fascinated with our dreams since the first dreamer awoke and wondered about what their visions meant. Since ancient times we have looked to our dreams to find signs of what our future holds. The first written dreams we know of were in 4000 BC. The earliest writings we have on dreams are primarily texts on their religious and spiritual significance. Most people will spend about one third of their lives asleep. Our dreams are a real part of us but too often they are disregarded. Dreams can give us insight and understanding of our personal lives. They will help us to understand our past, present, and sometimes our future. All we need to do is to pay attention to our dreams and get to know them. Dreams can hold a message for the future. We have different types of dreams. Often our dreams consist of imagery from our most pressing thoughts and/or personal experiences. Sometimes, however, our dreams can be special. Our dreams can communicate with us if we allow them too. All we need to is listen. I believe that there are two main types of prophetic dreams. Those that come to us from our “deeper” self, who is much more aware of certain things than we are on a conscious level, and those who may potentially have come from an “outside” source. Here is an example from my own dream experiences: I dreamed of death. All I could remember from the dream was seeing a hand laying in gravels. The most noticeable thing was the ring on the hand. It was my ring. I recognized it without any doubt. Even though this was the only image I could recall from the nightmare I knew that the dream was about a death. I could feel it strongly when I woke up. I had all but forgotten the events of the dream but the emotions were still vivid.

A Letter To Little Me
Dear Little Amanda, Please, save your heart for someone who wants to take care of it and cherish it. You will meet many, many men in your life. You will have tons of experiences where you can learn about trust. But you only have one chance to write your own fairy tale, so don't miss out on that opportunity.

Doggedly determined ...
This New Year's Eve I set my intention to be more 'dog', because 'dog' is the path to a good night's sleep. When I ask my dog, 'what's with you?', she gives me a look that says 'nada', which is impressive as I'm pretty sure she doesn't speak Spanish. Then she yawns, shuffles a little on the hearth rug and returns to doggie dreamland. At times, envious of her ability to just snooze at will, I toss a distractor:

THE BREAD TRAP
Sleep shouldn't be hard! I personally have no trouble slinking off into the beautiful dark silk of night. I know others do. The trouble I have now, in my mid forties is staying awake. But how has it come to this? Admittedly I am a little overweight. But I exercise when I can. I snore - like Godzilla with a cold - my wife constantly says. But I have had tests for sleep apnoea which have proved fruitless. I have depression. Inflammatory arthritis. I need to cut myself some slack right?

Hidden Signs Of Stress
We are all victims of stress, often without even realizing it. Many who experience constant stress choose to eat, drink and smoke more in the hope that they will feel better, instead of trying to eliminate the factors that brought them into that state.

Dishonest, High Conflict, Exhausting Relationships
Narcissists are experts at creating conflict. They thrive on drama; it’s what makes them tick. They absolutely can’t live without it. Narcissists feel alive in the midst of drama; they are fueled by chaos. They’re inconsiderate and self-centered. In the narcissist’s world, it is always all about them.

My Latest Experience with Fear
Yesterday I had quite an experience that made me think to myself to a great extent. To give you context here… It’s the holiday season and, about a week ago, one friend of mine, from college, invited me to go to his house because he was going to host a reunion with his friends. An important thing to know: I have only seen him once and I didn’t know any of his friends.

Gone by night
My alarm clock goes off at 4:44 am sharp. It feels like waking up to emptiness and despair every day. I immediately go to my dresser to pick out my clothes and put on the golden locket given to me for a present that I never let leave me. Then I make my way to have a bite. On the way out, I slide into the bathroom to brush my teeth. Quickly, I squeeze toothpaste on my toothbrush and brush my teeth rapidly before making it out of my low-end apartment to commute.

An Empty Cup
I've never been good at rest. I've spent my life feeling as though I always have to be working towards the next thing. The next goal is always on the horizon, waiting for me to look at it. Fighting a feeling of failure based on such an intangible concept is...kind of the worst. My goals are lofty. Difficult. Rarely ever attained in a day, and yet--nightly, my failure to attain them brings me to a low that I can't logic myself away from.
