Writer's Inspiration
Imagine walking down a lengthy, hollow dark forest alone and then along the way, you see a two-way path. Now at this two-way path, you’re faced with two challenging options, the first option is to follow your heart and do what you love whatever that may be. The second option is you fitting into how society views you and sticking to the status quo of the comfort-ability that life hands you. If you choose Option 1, you would most likely be faced with judgment and scrutiny from your peers who will try to talk you out of making your goals and dreams and goals come true but the end result will grant you with inner peace and you will be much happier about the person you have become. If you choose Option 2, You will live like the average human on this earth who allowed their adversity to beat them at their own game just to be comfortable with limitations on their life just because they wanted to feel socially accepted in today’s world. The end result will leave you constantly feeling as if there’s a missing puzzle piece in your life that makes you whole as a person, so you go along with life always wondering what could have been if you followed your heart. So whatever path you decide, just know there will be challenges along the way both good and bad, the question is which one would you choose?

A Call for Unity : Guided Meditation
I’m not here to tell anyone how they should feel or should react to what’s going on. As a spiritual teacher I often feel the weight of collective grief so strongly. And when I'm not sure how to help - it's disheartening.

A Slow and Steady Race to the End
The end seems like it is already upon us and we just don’t know it yet, with all the events of the year that have happened its no wonder the world is shutting down, a culmination of all the events throughout history shows us that this was going to happen sooner or later. Natural compounded with man-made disasters helped to bring this end on faster than it would have if we had not driven the planet into a spiral of self-destruction. Mixing that with the constant violence of those in a position of power who feel it is their right to act any way they want and shout self-defense or use the excuse of thinking someone was a threat. This constant flow of horror has now reared its ugly head again in all the looting and escalated violence from not just police but citizens alike which only serves to further move the needle into the empty spot. This race to the end of the road is a slow one but a steady one none the less and we as a people will not live long enough to see the climb back from the brink if we continue on this path of destruction and death.

I don't believe in hope
I am alive today. Some people say it is ‘luck’. Some people say it is because of my ‘positive thinking’. Some people say it is a ‘miracle’ (mainly my doctors say this!). Some people say it is because I am ‘strong’. And others say it is because I never give up ‘hope’.

The Winning Mindset
The challenges of life will never stop. They only get harder and harder as you get closer and closer to what you want. We are constantly being tested. Life can throw us off course from time to time, and it seems like we are in a constant battle with ourselves; because that is the truth. As soon as I feel like I am on top of the world, something happens and I get setback. I get back up again and setback again. It felt like a never-ending pattern. But I had something in me that kept me moving forward, I believed all these setbacks were to make the comeback that much better!

The Last May Accident
Birds chirping with happiness & glee. On a Sunday morning where the weather is chill & winds blowing in to remind you that its not summer yet but it will be warm enough for short. Cars pass by as if in rush hour to get to their destination. A loud noise emerges, The sounds of a skateboard gliding down the street but its not a skateboard but a scooter big enough to carry luggage. On the floor tilted with a woman wearing a black jacket & a mask laying on the floor. Her left leg bent as she laid on the middle of a cross section. Helmet still on as she tries to catch her breath.

Committing to My Path
It was many years ago that I was standing in the front of my classroom as a first grade teacher. I was in the middle of teaching a lesson when I heard a distinct voice in my head say, "Denise, you are here to teach people to be their truest self."

Journey Through Womanhood.
It’s the start of a new school year, my last fall semester to be exact. 4 years. Four of the longest yet shortest years of my life. College has taught me so much without even being in the classroom. The life experiences I’ve gone through have been so eye opening,

The Present
I have lost myself. I didn’t used to care about likes or streaks or any social media and now it’s the only connection I have to the people I love. Life as we once knew it seems so far away. I always try to stay positive but I’d be lying if I said I was handling this well. I don’t think anyone is handling this well. The life I fought so hard to get was ripped away in an instant. An instant we all laughed about not a week before it happened. An instant we didn’t take seriously until it was too late. Each text I send, each video I make, each call you don’t answer is me fighting desperately to feel like that life isn’t gone. But it is. And while that’s morbid and sad and not what we should be thinking right now that’s the truth. The life we once had is gone and it’s not coming back. So how do we handle that? How do we cope with having everything we once knew taken away without any warning? It seemed like an easy cross to bare. No school, no work, should be a breeze. But it’s not easy. Life needs purpose. Without purpose there is no reason to live. When each day becomes an endless cycle of waiting to fall asleep, you’ve lost the beauty of life. We need purpose. I need a purpose. In times like these we are told to keep hope alive and to stay positive. But why? What good does it do to avoid reality? This is not a good time we need to accept it and mourn it and be sad because on the other side of that sadness is a new life. It might not be a better one than the life we left behind but it sure as hell is better than a fake world full empty hope. I’m not saying you should lose hope. But I am saying you should lose hope in the past because the past was never meant to come back. “Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, and today is a gift. That’s why we call it the present.” - Master Oogway (Kung Fu Panda) So don’t smile through the pain. Don’t hide your tears away. If we don’t feel all the pains of life we won’t appreciate the beauty on the other side. We won’t be able to tell the difference between good times and bad because we won’t appreciate the good and we won’t acknowledge the bad. Embrace this moment of painful sadness, Embrace the distance between the ones we love, Embrace the loss, so that when we do one day get back to some sort of normal life, we never lose ourselves again.
