The Time I Needed
My boyfriend took this picture of me at the Naples Botanical Gardens about a month before the stay-at-home orders began being issued. We had both been busy working, so this was the first chance we had found to do something fun together. We spent the whole day walking through the gardens feeling happy and a sense of freedom as the weight of the daily grind slowly lifted off our shoulders. No one was wearing a mask and gloves. No one was concerned about staying six feet away from each other. Everyone was walking around just enjoying the sunshine and the beautiful flowers blooming all around us. I think back to that day and it still makes me smile, when I remember how amazing it had been to enjoy being alive again.

You Exist And You're Heard
I'd like to say thank you to someone special, who's struggles and hard work goes unrecognized a lot of the time. They stay up at night, drowning in thoughts of the past, hurtful memories from a painful once was. Still they wake, making it through yet another day for yet another paycheck. Working day to day and struggling with such heavy personal issues can be such a hard and draining cycle. Working hard day in day out to make money to pay for the simple things in life just to get by, but not having time to mentally and physically heal not just from work, but also their own personal life. No matter who they tell though, still they feel alone at the end of the day, because the reality is they’ll have to learn themselves to heal and move on. At the end of the day, they're going to have to be the one to drag themself out of that dark hole they're in, because they know they need to. Not just for themself, but for their mother, sister, brother, companions, those who are looking up to them and relying on them. This person is me. This person is my mama. This person is my friend. This person is someone out there, who's probably struggling with heavy burdens too, feeling trapped in the same way, in the same cycle.

The Last two Years
Just recently, I celebrated my two year wedding anniversary. I'm sure since my last post, you all have wondered where I have been and what I have been doing with my life. Let me tell you, the last two years have been quite the rollercoaster ride. And I have to say, personally, I do not like rollercoasters. But, thus is life.

Hospitality Motivation
What keeps me motivated after a 10 hour shift at work talking to guests all day, and making sure all 884 rooms are properly cleaned for our resort guests? Motivation comes from having a passion for what you love, a passion for what you do, I knew I had a passion for hospitality when I started college and did my first internship on a riverboat. That motivation continued onto my next 3 hotel internships before going into my manager in training program in this beautiful 884 Palm Desert Resort. When I first started I was terrified, I was in the hardest department, housekeeping with a new team and living on my own. I had high endurance due to my internships which were 10-16 hours shifts but never at this big of a property.

Year 2020 Was Suppose To Be The Best.
It was almost midnight on the 31st of December and the new year was just minutes away and I remember how excited my family, friends and I were . In other parts of the world they had already entered the new year. It was not only a new year but also a new decade. 2020 was the year where new possibilities came alive, my friends and I had promised that we would stick to our new year's resolutions. We were grateful that we had reached the double twenty year and would not waste the year with procrastination or what ifs.

Keeping being you somebody gonna feel it
When I was growing up the only woman of color widely known during that time for her “curve appeal” was Jennifer Lopez. Ms. Lopez’s beautiful face was still not enough to change what was considered the ‘right’ body image for many of us non-famous women with full-hips and big butts. Young men still preferred skinny. As well as, the modeling agency’s and fashion industry.

Legendary Poetry
Battling the enemy Just take the pain they tell me. Who are "they" to tell me that? Who that fuck do they say that they are to tell me such a thing? They tell me that they have been there before and that they know exactly what I'm feeling. Oh really? Have you gone nights without sleep because you were in such pain that you weren't able to sleep. Have you cried out in pain and have nobody listen to you? Oh sure, it's easy for you to say that it will pass as you sit there on your high horse with no cares in the world while I wither and die from my excruciating pain.

Never Stop Believing
”Be strong now because things will get better. It might be stormy now, but it can’t rain forever.” Unkown When life knocks us down, we can stay down or we can get up and be a force to be reckoned with. Life will always be tough but we can choose to face the adversity and uncertainty with being strong and resilient.
