Psychological Factors

Obesity can contribute to psychological disorders like depression, severe emotional distress and anxiety. It can also be the cause of suicidal thoughts and unhealthy behavior such as bulimia.

The age at which a person become overweight have a significant effect on the severity of health problems that develops later on in a person's life. The longer a person is overweight the bigger the risk for developing serious medical conditions as a result of obesity and the more difficult it become to get the condition under control. The biggest potential health risk regarding obesity exists in young children and teenagers that are overweight.

Social acceptability

Is is a sad fact but obesity is not really considered physically or socially acceptable by many people. Normally physical attraction is associated with a lean and muscled body.
