It isn’t that difficult to alter your lifestyle in small ways.
The key is to change one thing at a time until that change isn’t something that occupies your concentration or thought anymore.
For instance, starting an exercise program isn’t hard, but it can get complicated when you’ve had a late night or it’s too cold to get up in the morning.
For those who have exercised for years, these small forks in the road don’t phase them.
Instead, they sweep away the excuses, get up and get on with what needs to be done.
That can be your reality, too. It just requires a little bit of patience and a lot of self-love.
Dementia is magnifying in numbers, and you won’t ever know if that’s the destiny that awaits you.
If your grandparents or parents develop dementia, your risk of this fate is highly magnified.
While these tips cannot guarantee dementia won’t strike out at you later on, the great news is that starting to create some lifestyle changes now will limit the hold it has on you in the future.
If you could do some simple things every day to eliminate your chances of disease, wouldn’t you do it?
I know I would, and I’m living proof myself as an older child whose parents both developed & died from cancer.
Doing whatever I can to prevent it from happening to me is one of my goals.
I want to lead and live a healthy and happy lifestyle for as long as possible.
We all have that right.
Use these simple tips to side-track dementia.
---
One: Be active daily
Sitting for prolonged periods isn’t what we want here.
Walking, lifting weights and even running or some sport you enjoy is your key to being active.
One hour of activity is not enough.
You must be on the move continuously.
So walk a lot, stay active and keep moving regularly.
---
Two: Maintaining a healthy blood pressure
A healthy diet governs blood pressure levels.
Choose whole foods and fresh vegetables instead of canned and processed varieties. Keep stress under control and find ways to unwind that work for you.
We can’t control what happens externally, but we can control how we react.
---
Three: No smoking, including vaping
I don’t have to tell you the dangers of smoking — or vaping, for that matter.
But stay away from both, and not only will you save your life, but you will also keep a lot more money in your pocket!
--
Four: Reducing blood sugar
Maintaining a steady blood sugar calls for eliminating processed sugars, cakes, biscuits, and other garbage on supermarket shelves.
Intermittent fasting helps reduce and regulate blood sugar; therefore, seek advice from a professional first if you want to try that out.
--
Five: Eat well
That doesn’t mean starving, but eating correctly.
When you eliminate processed foods, your diet has plenty of room for healthy, whole foods, fresh vegetables and fruit.
You will be surprised at how much weight you will lose.
There is no need to eat processed foods at all — if any. It’s just a contributor to bad health.
---
Six: Keep your weight in check
If you follow all the steps above, watch your caloric intake, exercise, and lead a healthy lifestyle, maintaining a steady weight won’t be hard.
Seven: Low cholesterol levels
Again, keeping cholesterol levels low is another dietary requirement; a simple and low-caloric diet is vital.
Fresh is best, so go for an abundance of vegetables and fruits and eat more plant-based protein sources than the animal variety.
This should help regulate your cholesterol levels.
Researchers have found people with European ancestry to have the highest scores within the lifestyle factors above.
These findings could have much to do with the popular Mediterranean diet, which many Europeans live and breathe.
Perhaps that may be a positive direction for you. So why not try the Mediterranean diet, and find out what it can do for you?
