Anti-aging 4 ways: Hide-it, Cut-it, Swallow-it, Prevent-it

How to live longer in this modern, fast-paced era

I want to share my perspective on anti-aging—specifically, how I’ve come to understand it—by breaking it down into four different approaches: Hiding it, Cutting it, Swallowing it, or Preventing it.

HIDING IT

I’ll start with the simplest method: "Hiding it." By this, I mean cosmetic treatments that offer a quick fix. Personally, I’ve come across two types of solutions.

The first type consists of traditional cosmetics found in beauty stores; these usually provide a one-day fix and can range in price from a few dollars to hundreds of dollars per day. I’ve used these products myself and have seen impressive results—in my case, I’m able to conceal the aging lines on my face for the day.

The second type is a lesser-known cosmetic product that offers medium-term results. Specifically, I’m referring to a product called Melanobars (melanobars.com), a shampoo that uses natural ingredients to reverse gray hair by working with your body’s own biology. Although there are no clinical studies confirming the product's specific biological process, there are clinical studies on its individual ingredients showing they improve overall hair health, making it —in my view— a promising option.

CUTTING IT

The second type of anti-aging approach — which I call "Cut It" — is arguably the most dangerous of all; I would not recommend it to anyone unless they are guided by a medical specialist in the field. There are two types of surgeries here that could help improve general health regarding obesity or aesthetics.

The first type is gastric surgery; for this, you need a specialist to evaluate your overall situation and determine if you are a candidate for the procedure.

The second type is plastic surgery; here, too, you need a specialist to assess your general health and suitability for the surgery, as it carries significant associated risks.

SWALLOWING IT

I call the third type of anti-aging approach "Swallow It," as it refers to oral treatments designed to improve general health. These range from simple options like nutritional supplements and vitamins to weight-loss medications such as GLP-1s.

GLP-1 medications should not be taken lightly or started without professional guidance, as they require a comprehensive medical evaluation to determine if they are appropriate for your specific situation. It is also worth noting that, although I call this category "Swallow It," these medications initially entered the market as injections—which remains the most common method of administration—though oral versions have recently begun to appear.

While GLP-1 medications have been scientifically proven to offer significant benefits for overweight individuals—including those with conditions like diabetes—they are also being studied for other uses, such as addiction control. It is important to be aware of this, given that the mechanism by which these medications work involves suppressing hunger; however, it has also been reported that they may suppress other desires—such as the urge to consume alcohol (which is why they are being studied for addiction management) or even sexual desire.

I personally knew someone who started taking this medication and told me, "Since I started taking this drug, I feel like I have no desire to live." This person was not referring to suicidal thoughts, but rather to exactly what I just described: a lack of appetite for both food and sex.

PREVENTING IT

I have saved the option I call “Preventing It” for last—though I think another name for it could be “Delaying It,” since it is a way to slow down the aging process. However, I chose to call it “Preventing It” because our modern lifestyle is accelerating aging; therefore, we must take preventive measures to stop this from continuing.

This is arguably the most difficult path, yet it offers the greatest long-term benefits. Specifically, I am referring to leading a healthy lifestyle: eating a balanced diet with proper portion sizes, avoiding junk food, exercising 3 to 5 times a week, getting at least 7 or 8 hours of sleep a night, and maintaining a peaceful spiritual life.

Given today’s lifestyle, this may seem impossible or hard to achieve. Yet, by making a small effort each day, we can save thousands of dollars in the long run and enjoy a longer, better life—without having to resort to “Hiding It,” “Cutting It Off,” or “Swallowing It.”

I wish you a long, healthy life alongside your loved ones.
